Could have been better
It is quite a good idea but unfortunately, either through greed or bad design, it needs a mini-hub to work with Google Assistant or Alexa. The connection to the internet should have been incorporated. Furthermore, it needs to be charged regularly but the way it is designed, one cannot make use of the sun hours as the charger is to be attached at the back and no cable was included. Other similar gadgets have the internet incorporated so it is not something out of this world. Perhaps Switchbot just wanted to market its hub. By the way, one cannot link to any other similar hubs. Look elsewhere.

Miss leading
It says 'compatible with Google assistant' but it isn't, you need the Google home hub or it doesn't work, because of that I also thought it could connect to WiFi as with Google assistant you need internet, but it is Bluetooth only, if Bluetooth isn't on you can't connect with it, saying that though works fine, it's quite noisy, on silent mode it makes the exact same noise but for longer so just makes it worse. I don't mind the noise though as I only set it to open when I need to wake up so adds to the alarm, you can set a schedule to open and close but can't control it unless you're in the room. That's if you don't have a hub. For what it is, way over priced

Simple to setup and yet ingenious solution
I always used to think that smart curtains were something only a pro could install, however these little mini robots literally just clip straight onto the curtain poleI have mine on a normal pole with curtains mounted through ring, it sits behind the curtain around the pole and inches itself back and forth over the pole pulling the curtain with it as it goes. I also decided i needed to add on the solar panel itself in order to never have to charge up the curtain robot again. The panel keeps it topped up, although you do need to make sure it has a charge first time round it still charges it even in English weather. The only issue i have found is the fact that it's so discreet and doesn't need touching so you tend to forget about it and ignore it, however i now find myself annoyed that i have to open the blinds at the front of the house by myself...i need more robots. With the fact that it is smart, i have it set through IFTTT to close when the sun goes down and open up when it comes up, maximising the sun in the house whilst also keeping out the cold. i can also ask google to close the curtains for me at any point too. You will need the hub in order to do this yourself though.

Switchbot button
The button is very well designed and looks really good and sleek. At present you can't connect it to and smart voice services so you're stuck with it triggering switchbot devices.Just one device can be controlled with each button. They really need to let you control scenes. If you have 2 switchbot curtains in the same room. One to open the left and the other the right curtain you'll need to have set them up initially as a pair to be able to open and close them with a single switchbot button.

Fantastic piece of kit and simple to set up
This product was super simple to set up, took me less than 5 minutes from unboxing to finish configuration. It has a number of great use features - I like to schedule the curtains to open at sunrise and close at sunset. Pairing with other devices I can also close them if it gets a bit cold!I use Homebridge that appears to have a plug-in created by SwitchBot to use it with HomeKit but it has Siri Shortcuts that work just as well if you prefer a low code approach. The pull to close method is also useful if multiple people in the house have differing approaches to how they interact with tech. The battery seems to last several weeks, but I’m tempted by the solar charger add on so that it can take care of itself.I would recommend this to anyone who wants to smarten up their home, I’ve already invested in another one.

Needed a bit of fettling to work
Works fine with a bit of ingenuity, the extra clips and plastic tape are needed on thick rods to stop the eyes binding on the rod. Ended up stapling the curtain crease above eyelet to stop the eye rotating , opens and closes fine now , started with a needle and thread but gave up and just used the staple gun! Not noticeable and s as lot less grief

Useless
Claims to move 8kg of weight but worn even close my light weight curtains, displays an error every other time when trying to open, will be returning
