LaCie is quite compact and easy to carry. However sandisk is even compact to carry. Sea gate quality is good

Great Ssd drive for backup and storage. I don't use any of the built it backup tools or apps. I use it on my MacBook pro withTime Machine backup and works great and fast. And I like the fact that it is small, light weight and very nice design. I highly recommend it.

Finally!!! A 2TB portable SSD that is as advertised. The first I tried, a Samsung, bricked itself during its first use. The second, a SanDisk, worked OK, but was 1TB in spite of my order and the device’s box specifying 2TB.This drive was the correct capacity and worked well from the onset. It did not overheat like the Samsung and it’s capacity was as advertised. The drive weighs little, is easily portable, and so far seems robust.The one drawback, which is why I have rated the device as 4 stars instead of 5 for ease of use, is that it was a bit of a hassle to format the SSD as encrypted external storage for MacOS (I imagine most of us are required by employers to use encrypted drives). I’ve been using (and occasionally programming) computers for 35 years, so I was able to look up the process on the web. However, for novices it might seem mysterious: First you have to format the physical drive a certain way and then you have to format a logical partition as encrypted. The were no instructions included on the drive stating how to do this, nor was there any software. That means it has to be done with MacOS’s Disk Utility, which, if misused inadvertently, could cause havoc with the operating system and data files on internal drives.It would be a simple matter to create software that is Mac-friendly to do this, or at least walk through the instructions to do so with Disk Utility, but lazily the company seems not to have bothered. I am tired of MacOS being treated as though it does not exist - it would not require that many resources to provide adequate documentation and software for MacOS. An intern could do it.

As an amateur content creator, I’ve found that I run out of space often. As my western digital portable 2TB external HDD is nearing capacity, I looked for an upgrade.The LaCie SSD's, in my opinion, are the most aesthetically pleasing from the list of portable SSD's I saw.I haven’t had any issues with the LaCie and it looks discreetly amazing in my setup.If I could change anything, it would be the shiny bronze accent colour around the raised part of the SSD. Nice looking object. Died in less than 20 mins out of the box whilst transferring first data could not be revived. RIP, I hardly knew you. Avoid.

Sorely disappointed, ordered 2TB, luckily I checked as soon as I received it, it was only 1TB, if I hadn't have checked I would have paid £280.00p for a 1TB, twice the price for half the promised product.

Simple to install. If using for Mac then re-format using mac filing system.
