This scraper is very good quality. It saves SO MUCH time in terms of scraping down the bowl. The durable, hard plastic can take just about anything except very hot sugar syrup. I goofed while mixing a fudge that had a boiled syrup and it bent the first beater blade I'd bought - oops... live and learn. A word of advice: because the scraper scrape the sides of the bowl very well, I use a cooking spray or a little oil to coat the bowl first or it makes a high pitch squeaking noise.

I ordered this for my Pro 5 Plus mixer having read the reviews, still wanting to give it a good test. As a professional baker, I use (and will be using) this product on an almost daily basis. The acutal beater itself is lightweight and made of plastic, and seems rather weak. But man, does it ever work. I use it strictly for batter and not dough (to help it last longer) and it works like a dream. It incorporates every bit of the ingredients right down to the bottom of the bowl. With how well it works, even if it breaks in a few months, the amount of bowl-scraping time/frustration that it saves will make it worth it for me to spend the 30 bucks to get another one. BUT if you use your mixer mostly for cookie dough, or if you don't use it often enough to warrant the price paid, then I'd just leave this one alone.As a side note, KitchenAid does make a similar product called the Flex Edge beater, part # KFE6L if you have a Pro 5 Plus, and you can get it on eBay for about the same price as this one. The only drawback on the Flex Edge is that it only has a scraper on one side of the beater.
