Good advice mixed with humor is a formula for success in life!
Get a cup of coffee and a piece of peach cobbler, or whatever suits you, and pull up a chair at the kitchen table, because that's what Annette Bridges' conversational tone feels like to read---comfortable, homey, nurturing---as though you're having a chat with a caring, wise friend. Bridges wrote The Queen of Damn Good Advice for mothers and daughters, but I hope fathers and sons, and anyone who isn't a parent but cares about living a fulfilled life will read it. Though each chapter addresses a particular feeling, matter, or event that most of us have in common in a lifetime, I realized that her chapter on "energy leaks" applies to everything she wrote about in the book---how to recognize them in our life (we all experience them) and how to deal with and even heal them. Another thing Bridges did that I appreciate was her skillful inclusion of Bible quotes, among others (I'm spiritual, but not religious), in a way that was relevant and beneficial, never preachy. With each chapter I read, the more I looked forward to continuing on. ~ Joyce Shafer, Life Empowerment Coach; publisher of the online newsletter, State of Appreciation; and author of I Don't Want to Be Your Guru, but I Have Something to Say.

Nice way to "connect" with a young person needing advice
You can tell by the title that "The Queen of Damn Good Advice" will offer folksy wisdom in a way that makes sense to young people. Annette Bridges directs her comments at daughters entering adulthood. Bridges is a Southerner, and her advice has a humorous Southern accent -- but that makes it all the more accessible. Rather than being stuffy, "The Queen of Damn Good Advice" offers advice from life experience -- and from the heart. If your daughter or a young woman in your life is heading off for college or going out on her own, this is a good gift for her!

This book is great for any woman facing array of life situations. It is filled with some wise words regardless of your marital status. It is very comforting and nurturing. It also focuses on all issues we may face as women and our relationships with our significant other, friends, co-workers and any one else that may cross paths with us. Mrs. Bridges writes with great sincerity and concern. It has great Biblical insights and approach to the modern day issues we face every day. Great Read
This book was a nice read- inspiring, heart filled and full of wise words. Bridges uses real life examples and stories intertwined with the royalty, "princess," metaphor. She offers advice and knowledge aimed at girls transitioning into adulthood, starting with college, then marriage, mishaps, and reaching goals- but a woman at any life-stage can relate to these words. This would be a great gift to a young lady who is graduating!!
