The motion sensor responds to the light source and distance, if the light is in a pitch black room it can detect your motion at a distance of 3 metres. Very bright and saves on electric bill
Very bright. Not a low-light night light. Great sensitivity. We have not attached it, since it is easy to carry and place anywhere you want. All led's come on instantly when motion is detected from several feet away. My husband thought he was hearing a mouse so he put the light near that area, knowing it would be bright enough to alert us if movement was detected in the dark. We are using several motion sensor lights around the house for safety when moving from room to room after dark and for saving on electricity. We don't need to light up the whole house when moving from room to room after dark, and there is no concern over remembering to shut lights off. These will also be great in the event of a power outage. Two months on the batteries, so far, and no loss of brightness. If the light automatically shuts off and you still need light, just wave a hand or move the light and it is back on again.

Almost perfect
I put this in a closet and we love it. The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that there is no option to turn it on and leave it on for a bit. But it is sensitive enough to do the job even though it goes off and you have to wave a hand to get it back on.
