Best all around diaper, but runs wide
We switched to this diaper (size 1) when our baby was 3 weeks old after she started developing rashes on her bum that her previous fragranced diapers (Pampers Swaddlers size NB) seemed to be exacerbating.SIZINGThis seems to be one of the top concerns of prospective buyers, so will be as detailed as I can about it here. The Size 1 is marked as being for babies weighing between 4-9lbs. I cannot for the life of me imagine how a baby under 7 lbs (let alone a 4lb baby!) could fit this diaper. Unless this is like the diaper version of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, there is no way that range is possible. For reference: My baby was about 21" and 8.5lbs when we switched to this diaper. The Size 1 was HUGE on her, but the durability, absorption, softness and overall quality was unmatched, so we made it work until she grew into it.We also tried Honest Company, Whole Foods 365, Babyganics, and Naty brand diapers - all size NB. Of ALL these diapers, Bambo size 1 ran the largest (see my photo of all diapers side by side). It is about as wide as the Naty but 1/2 inch taller, and fit a bit looser than the Naty despite their seemingly similar dimensions because the Bambo material is relatively "flat" whereas the Naty was more "puffy."My baby is long for her weight, and the Pampers Swaddlers actually were the perfect fit for her proportions. The Babyganics and the Pampers Swaddlers had very similar proportions, but we still preferred the Bambo over the Babyganics because it was less stiff and felt more comfortable. The Babyganics was our backup diaper though, and still a fine diaper if you are specifically looking for an unscented eco friendly diaper that fits similar to Pampers Swaddlers. My baby is now 12lbs and 23" long and has been in the Size 1 from age 3 weeks - 9 weeks. She still fits Size 1, but just barely. Because she is starting to outgrow the Size 1, she has blow outs and leaks more frequently (probably 1 every 10 soiled diapers vs 1 out of 30-40 when it fit properly). She is still a little too small for the Size 2, but if our earlier experience is any indication, we should be fine letting her grow into the Size 2, and plan to switch to that size once we run out of Size 1s.Fit tips: You may need to attach the tabs as far as they will go to the front center panel to get a tight enough fit if your baby is lean. This might mess with the leg openings, so you may need to manually pull up the front sides to ensure the leg holes are snug. Finally, a good upwards tug on the back of the diaper when you're done never hurts anybody!QUALITYThere is little I can say that other reviewers and BabyGearLab (which is how I found this brand of diaper) have not already covered. I echo previous reviewers on the amazing absorption and quality of this diaper. It can easily absorb 2-3 big pees for overnight use. My baby is a powerful wet fart/pooping machine, and this diaper can contain all but her most explosive eruptions. It is also the softest, most comfy diaper I've seen so far. The elastic led ruffles are soft and stretchy. The interior is fabric like. The diaper does not chafe or leave lasting marks on my baby's skin.ECO FRIENDLINESSThis diaper is truly fragrance free and dye free, and the Abena/Bambo company is unbelievably transparent about their practices (check out their website for more info than you thought you could want on a diaper). I feel good about putting my baby in this diaper. Maybe not as good as I would using cloth diapers, but for a disposable it is pretty hard to beat.CAVEATS- Runs big (see SIZING section above and my comparison photo)- Pricey. As a breastfed newborn, my baby could easily go through 10+ diapers a day for the first few weeks, or 3 packs per week. Now she goes through 5-7 diapers a day, or 2 packs per week. Highly recommend using Subscribe and Save to keep the costs down, but even so, you may be paying anywhere from 15-30% more for Bambo vs other brand name or generic diapers. For me, the extra $15-$20 per month is doable, but I understand that may not be possible for everyone.Other than those two caveats, there is literally nothing I can find fault with in this diaper. Every baby bottom is different (and adorable!), but for us, this is the holy grail of diapers.

Best diaper available
First, let me begin by saying that I do not write many reviews. My reason for reviewing Abena bambo is because I have seen many negative comments about these diapers recently, and I truly do not think that these comments are justified. As a concerned mom who is willing to spend the extra money to ensure that my son is as comfortable as possible, I wanted to write a review for other mothers and fathers who may be currently dissatisfied with pampers, luvs, or huggies and who are looking for a viable alternative. Both my son and I have extremely sensitive skin. I used to use pampers sensitive and I was very unhappy with the red marks that pampers would leave on my son's bottom after every diaper change. After doing considerable research and reading the reviews on [...] I decided to make the switch to Abena Bambo nature size 2 when my son was five months old. Since buying my first package of Bambo diapers, I have not bought another brand. The diapers are extremely soft on the inside and they have no mesh netting like pampers has. They are thin and highly absorbent. Bambo recently changed their design in October so that the diapers are not as thick as they once were. However, if you are judicious in your diaper changes, i.e. you don't expect a diaper to stay on a child for six hours at a time, but rather you change the diaper when you suspect your child is wet or dirty, the thinness of the diapers is not a problem. For my 12 month old, I probably go through 7-8 diapers a day and I have never had a single problem with leaking or blowouts. While these diapers are considerably more expensive than most other diapers on the market, my son has not had a single red dot of diaper rash since I switched. I never cease to be amazed at how absorbent these diapers are. The easily can be used for overnight use without a single issue. This diapers are very expensive but well worth it if you have a child that is prone to eczema or who has had lingering problems with diaper rash regardless of how frequently you change the diaper. I highly recommend them.

Genial
