Redefines the word "chunk"
I don't know how you call pieces the size of your thumb tip chunks. I don't see how these are anything other than "chips" in the smoker world sense. Also says alder flavored which I missed at first, hmmmm. Label on the bag says it uses, "a gentle touch of alderwood as a base".If this is what you are looking for you are in the right place, enjoy!Returning as I personally feel I was misled.

smoked some fish
I have used this a few times to smoke some fish, namely halibut and salmon filets. They came out good. I followed the recipe from Outdoor chef life on yt. Chips next to or on top of white charcoal. The chips add a subtle flavor to the fish and you taste mostly the fish and other added ingredients. It doesn't overwhelm the fish or remind you of other smoked meats. The chips are small and thin. Dry wood. looks and smells fresh. One bag is plenty and I just use a handful for one filet. Hard to find these at my local store in California.

Smoker's heaven
Have been using alder wood as my go to wood chips for our propane and the charcoal smoker for over 10 years now. Very mild flavor that works great for fish, chicken and the occasional smoked apple pie. Was very easy to get in Alaska but not so much in Oklahoma until I found this. Not sure how many bags I've bought over the years but more than 6 I'm sure

Best smoker wood for salmon
Couldn't find Adler wood chips anywhere in town so I was thrilled Amazon came through for my husband. It makes his smoked salmon the best tasting treat around. He said it eas a good price and just what he was looking for. Thanks for saying the day!

they are not chunks.
There chips and almost useless for my big green egg.If you look closely on the bag it says chips and chunks. even with that there were no chunks.I just saw the large lettering on the bag that said chunks and the high star reviews and did not read the actual reviews.
