Handy.
My husband is actually studying Modern standard Arabic. Which is typically used in the media. I think this is a great tool to have for anyone who needs to become familiar with media Arabic.

Perfect size and content!
This is a perfect little book about news in Arabic! I'm satisfied with the presentation and the content. The book is light what is perfect to travel and to read in the subway. Authors made a good selection of current topics in news. If I had to mention something I do not like about it, it would be with no doubts almost all news are not good; I mean, now we are in the middle of a global pandemic, I would like to read something about science, research technology, even sports. But I understand this was not the focus of the book. For some people also, font Arabic size should appears a little tiny, but I think this is the size of a real Arabic book.الآن استطيع أن افهم على الأقل معظم العناوين في الجرائد!

The main problem with this book is that there is ...
The main problem with this book is that there is no answer key. Also, although it has vocabulary lists, some words are repeated while others are omitted entirely. There are also frequent typos. Otherwise, it covers current and relevant topics.

Great for DLPT preparation
I'd used the previous version of this while preapring for my DLPT. I highly recommend it for the amount of vocabulary and usage examples. Some exploration of idiomatic usage in media would have made the book even better.

Pages missing from new copy of the book.
Pages 57-72 are repeated in the book and replace pages 73-88, essentially removing half a chapter. Maybe I'm the only one with this problem, but it does not speak highly of the quality of the book.

Well planned book that needs some better execution
I've been using this book in class for a few months and have grown to like it but I certainly feel the flaws in it.First off I really like how it moves from easy and straightforward stories on a topic (there was an election here, this is what happened) to more complex stories with opinions and more background and how each article reinforces vocabulary from earlier ones. In that way it is a very well planned out book with strong scaffolding to raise the students' confidence and ability. However, as others have pointed out the print is tiny, I may not have noticed it when I was a college student but my old eyes need a lot of squinting to read it. The book also uses a stylized font that compresses letters and is hard to read. Which is realistic and authentic but also annoying. I would recommend using different fonts from time to time as well since newspapers use a variety of fonts in their articles.Exercises often don't have enough room to write the answers and articles do not have enough white space between the lines to scribble notes and translations. New vocabulary is sometimes insufficiently explained.I would say this is a very well planned book but needs a new edition to improve the layout and review some of the explanations. Perhaps move to a larger A4 trim size to give students more space to work with. Overall it's the best intermediate book I've used but there's significant room for improvement.

Wers braucht
