A dark view of life in North Korea from the only prison camp escapee.

The book is interesting to read and you can get a glimpse of life in North Korea. But, as you probably know, the veracity of the story has been questioned, and more recently it has been confirmed that some aspects of it were a lie.The author is not to blame but, of course, it has an impact on the overall opinion.

La tematica è davvero molto interessante ed è stata proprio la storia di Shin che mi ha spinto a comprare questo libro. Ma ciò che mi ha colpito maggiormente è lo stile di Blaine Harden : un misto tra documentario e romanzo ed ogni pagina scorre via leggera come una piuma, sebbene la storia narrata non lo sia affatto.Mi piacerebbe vedere in vendita una traduzione in italiano perché questo libro andrebbe letto nelle scuole superiori, dove ci si dovrebbe soffermare di più anche sulla storia delle due Coree (così come quella del Medio Oriente).Lo consiglio a tutti!

this book is right next to any book written by holocaustsurvivors who give account of their "life" in a concentrationcamp, but this book goes one step further.This tortured soul has been born into a world where hope is as far away as love and only pain and misery are company to a child born into hell on earthI have read many books from North Koreans and their lifeaccounts but what this man had to endure (and thousands more still endure in this very moment ) is by far worse then any other accountMindnumbing , soulchilling this book will bring tears into your eye'sthis book should be a must read but it is so heavy on you that it might be too much for a weaker personalityYes you should read this book, more the just definitely but be aware of the consequences it could have.
