The pouf is real leather, unlike some other poufs on Amazon (this is the third one I bought, the first two were obviously vinyl, despite the claims). Opening it initially, it smelled strongly of leather, which dissipated quickly. It's very well made overall. The photos in the listing are generally accurate, except that the bottom of the pouf was also made of leather with a zipper in the middle, instead of fabric. It's actually much nicer this way, it was a pleasant surprise.The leather does have some blemishes, spots and marks on it - the kind of thing you would actually see on a hide. It's not the fanciest quality of leather that you would see on a purse or shoes, but it's very reasonable for the price. Also, I was looking for a more rustic look, and this is perfect.It comes unstuffed, which is amazing. I had been collecting soft plastic bags and packing material that I couldn't recycle and didn't want to end in a landfill. I used a very old bathrobe to stuff the top so it was extra cushy, and then went to town on stuffing the pouf! I used about three extra large garbages full of plastic bags and other material. It's nice to reuse all this material, and also not have to buy stuffing!

This ottoman was a great buy. It arrived in a small package. Besides being priced just right, it afforded me the opportunity to recycle a bunch of old pillows. I had been holding off taking them to the dump, and I am glad I did. I took my time and added them ( various sizes) one by one, carefully placing them so they filled the space nicely. The leather is beautiful - a lovely caramel color. I don't need another one, but would not hesitate to gift one to someone.

This square leather poof has worn wear well and should last for quite a while. This leather will acquire a patina over time since it is natural leather and not anodized- perfect for our rustic design. Be aware that this does not have an inner liner, so your beans will be loose inside the leather poof; it has a sturdy zipper so it should keep the beans from spilling out. To be safe I stitched my zipper closed. I used the bigger beans as fill and they have kept the square shape of the poof well. The photo of the "rust" color was dead on- they matched my pillows perfectly.

I just got this in the mail. I ordered unstuffed and used 2 large couch pillows that were taking up closet space. It definitely could use one more large pillow stuffing for extra sturdiness. The color is brown and there is variation in the different leather pieces sewn together. It certainly has a rustic quality to it. I was worried about zipper failure based on other reviews. My zipper is in working order and has a large metal pull tab. I like that it is actually a Moroccan pouf from Morocco, although who knows where the leather is sourced. I posted an over ripe banana for scale. All said and done, it came at an appropriate amount of time and was reasonably priced for real leather.

I’ve only been using for less than year. With very little zipping and unzipping, the zipper pull broke off and now I can’t zip it closed.
