Ditch the plastic junk and just buy these.
Not a direct replacement but close enough. The holes were just a bit wider than the stock items on our Dutchmen Trailer. Not so wide that new holes were needed. A serious upgrade to the decaying plastic junk that came on the trailer, these should last the life of the trailer.Installation was easy:Unscrew the old unitIf it's really stuck down with dicor, carefully pry it loose. A hair dryer can be used to heat the dicor to make removal a breeze.Be careful of sharp edges where the holes are drilled in your RV, they might be jagged, so don't pick off the old dicor willy nilly, Be careful and safe.Once clean, test the fitment and hole locations to see if you need to drill new holes and plug the old.I put dicor on the back of the new unit, being sure to cover all of the back.Screw it in place, and you should be done. These are made from highly polished stainless steel. They won't decay like the plastic units and they look snazzy.

Nice durable catch.
All SS including mounting screws. Went through 2 plastic ones before going for this permanent solution. Two minor (for me) problems as others have noted. Screw holes are slightly different from the plastic holders so I had to use a round file to make 2 holes slightly oval. With this fix the holes line up with coach holes and screw heads cover the oval hole. The catch would work fine if the door and side of coach were parallel; however, the 6" standoff puts the T leg and latch at an angle. This makes it almost impossible to hook without forcing the T leg into the latch. Solution was to remove a small amount of material from one corner where the T leg enters the latch. I used a cutoff tool and file and removed about 1/8 inch from one corner of the latch. You could use only a file but it would be difficult and take some time. With this fix the latch works great and the T leg drops into the latch without any force. It would be nice if the manufacturer would address these known issues but for 30 to 60 minutes extra time this is a great catch.

~~ Works on our travel trailer ~~
When the original plastic door holder on our travel trailer broke we started shopping for a new and sturdier one. Richard was able to attach this JR Stainless Steel one using the same holes. It is a little tricky/tough to get the T-bar into the hole due to the angle of the door in relativity to the side of the trailer. HOWEVER the old one which was easy to get in was ALWAYS getting blown out by the wind which was a pain. Once this new one is in place, the wind cannot move it thus keeping the door open!Important to note that Richard covered the screws and edges in clear silicone caulk for extra protection. The door stop (white plastic tube) sticking out does NOT come with it. That was on the old one to stop the door banging back against the side of the trailer so we transferred it onto this one. Thanks, Liz

Works okay after alterations
A decent product, but as noted by a number of other reviewers, it does NOT like to function with your typical RV door installation, where the the hinge side of the door is mounted at the door frame (0" offset from the RV wall) but the latch side of the door is being held 4" from the trailer wall. It's all in the shape of the cutout where the "T" latches into the bracket on the door - it needs to have more of a flare (or be cut a little larger) so that the "T" just drops into/pops out of the bracket, rather than needing to be "forced" into/out of the bracket because the "T" and the bracket don't meet at a perfect right angle.

Great, simple solution for shed doors
We have a shed in the back yard with a double-door opening, meaning the two doors swing left and right to create one big opening. However, if either of the doors were open and it was windy, the doors would bang against the shed, dinging up the door and/or the shed. These retaining clips solve it simply and effectively. Part of the clip mounts to the shed, the other part to the door, and when the door is open you just slip the T-bar into the retaining clip and, voila, the door is held in place, standing off from the shed by about 3-4 inches. If you've ever rented a u-haul or similar self-moving truck, and opened the doors around to the side, they typically have a similar retaining clip solution to keep the doors from swinging. This uses the same concept. Also, they are stainless steel, meaning that they are weathering nicely, or more correctly, that they are not weathering at all. Just a great solution - highly recommended.

Too long for my 5th wheel front basement door
Rated high because it was durable and worked well. Turned out to be too long for my fifth wheel front basement door- even though I have 7” bed rail clearance when level, the hanger got bent on a recent trip by hanging up on the top of my tail gate. I’m going to consider a shorter version.

Good product, much stronger than the plastic that came on my trailer. As others have said you will have to bend it slightly to get it to line up with the receiving "female" part. It was close enough on the hole spacing that I was able to use the same mounting holes. Holes did not match exactly but close enough that I made it work. Would have given a 5 if I had not had to "customize" it.

Fits with modification
You will have to modify it to make it work. I mounted it on a 2013 Montana. I had to bend the arm, grind on bracket and arm end to make it fit and latch properly. It took me an hour to modify and make it fit and still look good. It should last though, made from solid stainless steel.
