Girls' Last Tour, Vol. 1
D**S
Slice of life cuteness + post-apocalyptic melancholy = a refreshing take on the genre!
Girl's Last Tour is a true definition of a "Hidden Gem". One of the most refreshing takes on the post-apocalyptic genre, the story revolves around the misadventures and everyday life of, apparently, the two last surviving humans on earth. our protagonists Chito & Yuuri travel the ruins of a civilization long gone, searching for fuel and food, and exploring desolate landscapes. During their journey, they get to discuss various topics, from simple things like cooking and music to deeper subjects like the meaning of life! The art style can be deceiving, with its blobby moe style making you think that it's going to be just a silly comedic adventure, but there is a more sinister side behind it. It's not particularly dark or violent (there is no violence at all), you won't find any high-octane action taking place, or fights against some unspeakable evil force. The chemistry is between the interactions between the two girls and their opposite characters (Chito the brains, Yuuri the brawn). It is a perfect blend of humor, slice of life and melancholy, posing some interesting philosophical questions (in a simple manner) without giving definitive answers but leaving the reader to think about it.The backgrounds contrast with the blob style, with an abandoned industrial mega-city that feel eerie in its emptiness and oppressive but wonderful to look at tanks to Tsukumizu's amazing sense of scale and architecture while keeping things simple at the same time. The sketchy lines give a more relaxed vibe and the sense of the whole adventure being one big melancholic dream.Girl's Last Tour Vol.1 does a wonderful job at its specific genre and it's a great set up for the later volumes who only improve as you continue reading!

I need answers!
This was an insta buy as soon as I found it, it’s not the kind of thing I usually go for but the cover art completely hooked me.About two girls travelling round in their tank/car, just to survive.I liked this, Chito and Yuuri were so different but together worked so well, one being the brains study type, the other the braun protector. Really liked the sketch art style. I really want to know how this world ended up like this, and where they’re going, and what their end goal is. This volume raises questions and doesn’t answer them! Will just have to buy the next volume.

Hits all my aesthetics
Perfect slice of life story which stays interesting, I'm always excited to read the next volume! Chito and Yuu are like yin and yang, the art is perfectly simple, complex and unique and every page is lovely to look at too. The pacing is perfect. I read the book within a day but its absolutely worth buying and keeping a physical copy of to re-read, and appreciate the art work in. The cover art is also beautiful, and the messages and morals throughout are too.Its all my favourite things in one! Cute girls, industrial and brutalist aesthetics, practical clothing and cool machinery, with a bit of snow now and again on top :-)
