Great for lifeguards! I researched quite a while and decided to give this whistle a chance. I have been a fox 40 fan for a while, but these whistles are superior. They blow loud. The don't have a ball, but instead emmit two tones that clash and get your attention, this allows them to work even after diving in the swimming pool. As lifeguards we have to use whistles to get on to people, but also to call for additional help when we have to leave our station for a rescue. These whistles are easily heard above all the other noise, while some others are not.

This whistle is SUPER loud. I live in a canyon and tested it out. It's sound echoed through the canyon. One word of advice is to wear ear protection or cover your ears if you are going to blow hard on this. I bought this for hiking in case of an emergency.

Loud, loud, loud! I don't worry when kayaking on the lake alone. I know that if there is trouble this whistle will be heard far away. My teen daughter wears one when she goes to her friend's houses and knows she will be coming home after dark. She feels safer wearing it because it can be heard from far away. Close up it really hurts your ears.

The whistles exceeded my expectations. We are training some young dogs and the whistles were exactly what we needed. The whistle is so loud I am forwarding one to our granddaughter living in the city to put on her key chain for protection.
