Awesome. Like a beefy 119
TL;DR version - Solid 5 stars, great knife. It is exactly as described. Other reviewers gave me a good idea of what to expect. I like Buck knives and this is one is a beauty. If you really like the 6 inch blade knives and the 119 feels too tiny, the 124 might be for you.Verbose version - The reviews are right; the handle is big, bulky, and square-ish which limits the versatility of this knife. The whole thing is huge, more like a small sword than a knife. It's almost the same style as the 119 but the bulky handle and broader blade make it seem like something else entirely after you use it for a while. I used this thing on a few family camping trips and if I'm being honest, it was never truly "necessary" although it was a joy to use when I did find an excuse (making fires, chopping food, etc). It's big and rowdy, it can do anything (I haven't cleaned any animals with it but I doubt I will; even though it could likely do it, I'd prefer something smaller). I'm a normal sized guy, 5'8 with normal hands and at times I feel like I'm holding Andre the Giant's knife. I made some feather sticks and what not and got some fires going with it, but after very little light work the large handle became tiresome to me. If I was a huge guy looking for a blade my size, this would be it because it's great looking and of really great quality. I'm not, so I think that this will just be something I bust out once in a while for heavier tasks, like a buddy for my hatchet.Having griped about it, I gotta say that it is a pretty impressive knife to the casual observer and knife nerd alike. It is what it says it is; it is the 119's bigger beefier brother with the handle to prove it. I've largely been impressed with Buck and this is no exception. When my friends have seen this thing they've all freaked out; it's legitimately awesome. One other thing, the grind isn't totally uniform but I don't think it's really noticeable to the average person and I can probably fix it with my belt sander so I'm not docking a star, just noting that the fit/finish isn't 100% even if it's darn close. The grind issue is the only technical issue i have with the knife, otherwise it's exactly what I expected and it's great.

Quality USA made product!
When you want a quality USA made knife you buy a Buck, this I had heard from people and even read from many online sources. I decided to give them a try after all the positive things I had heard and read I am definitely very happy that I gave them a try and made this purchase. Knife came hair shaving sharp, finish on the blade was good, grind on blade was even, handle scales were perfectly flush with tang and even, hand guard to blade fitment is very tight with no gaps, leather sheath was much better then I expected, leather is of good quality, I did order a custom sheath for it because I'm not a fan of the traditional vertical hip carry but for those that dont mind that there is absolutely nothing wrong or lacking for the sheath it comes with. Sheath was stamped made in USA as well. Knife and sheath are top notch and this is definitely a knife that will last and can be passed down through the generations. If there was one thing I wish I could change about the knife it would be that the handle was a bit more rounded and ergonomic. I was aware from other reviews prior to my purchase that people have found the handle to be shaped a bit like a block. I would have to agree with everyone else. I imagine that this will be something I will probably get used to and not notice after a couple weeks of using. I will try and update this review after using the knife for a while to tell about the comfort level of handle during use. Handle is definitely sized and shaped for large size hands. According to stamped symbol on blade the knife was made in 2018, this purchase was made middle 2019. All in all if I had to make the same purchase again or recommend this to a close friend or a family member, I would say buy it.

Balance, quality, detail, geometry, sharpness, weight, every aspect of it is perfect! The most Underated knife I own! USA MADE!
Just what I needed, another knife! I have enough knives to open a small retail store. Full-tang, USA Made, Classic Buck, I could not resist. The knife arrived in a couple days, I opened the box and was flabbergasted. This must be the most underrated knife I have ever owned. The balance, quality, detail, geometry, sharpness, weight, every aspect of it is perfect! Nice thick handles have a better feel out of the box then even my beloved BUSSE Battle Mistress. The sheath is typical super Buck quality. I rubbed the knife against my arm to see how sharp it is, I did not feel any hair pull so I thought the knife just slid across, I look closer and it actually shaved hair like a barbers straight razor. I have had some sharp factory edges but this is off the charts! I don't understand how Buck can produce this knife in the USA for this price but I barely had it in my hands for a few minutes and I put it down and ordered two more for my inventory before Buck wakes up and realizes that they are giving these away. I love the effort that Buck makes to manufacture many quality knives in the USA. It is also nice to see how many knife buyers still look for USA made knifes. It's encouraging that it still matters to people. I have a lot of knifes to compare this to, many costing hundreds and hundreds of dollars. I don't see any of them having anything up on this knife. I'm not a steel snob so I think Buck heat treated 420HC is perfectly great. Absolutely 100% perfect knife in every way! Buy it and you will love it.

Now this is a knife. I use this around the camp for various tasks. Come sharp, in a quality leather sheath. Resharpening is a breeze.
