HarperCollins Taken At The Flood

Strong Plot.
This is quite an interesting novel because of the period it is set in. Immediately after the second world war. I must confess it is not one of my favourite books, perhaps because there is very little in the way of Christie's usual humour in it. Nevertheless, social commentary is well to the fore and even if some of the norms then would raise more than a few eyebrows today it is worth a listen. Others of Christie's works stand the test of time better than this one does, however it does have a strong plot. And if you can get over what seem to have been the accepted standards in prospective husbands back in the day, quite enjoyable.

Book
Book looks lovely but reading it, to me is not easy, as writing is too close and gaps between lines is too small , this makes my eyes tired very quickly, so I will not be ordering from this company any more.

Interesting characters
The puppetmaster moves around her characters and misleads as ever, and the conclusion has more than one surprise.Recommended

Great christie story
Absolutely love this story. Superbly read by hugh fraser whose multiple character voice changes leave you in no doubt as to which character is speaking, making it very easy on the ear. One if the best christie stories in my opinion with all the twists and turns you'd expect from this writer.
