Esschert Design FB142 Owl Scare Crows Decoy

Every year birds would come to my balcony and build nests on my porch light. If that wasn't enough they wouldn't let us use our balcony without squawking and making attacks on us to drive us away from their nest. Same thing this year only before they could build a nest, I put one of these bad boy owl decoys up. first I faced it towards the patio door to see my wife's reaction. It startled her so bad, I thought I would never hear the end of it! I turned it around and moved it to the side so my wife wouldn't have to look at it. This 2D decoy looks so real and It really keeps the birds and even the squirrels away. Easy to set up and does what it is designed to do at a very low price.

This owl is in more of a reference tp 1D as there is no owl on the reverse side besides a nice shiny surface. We have named it karen as this thing just doesn't do any scaring of anything except the wind that makes its bell jingle. These birds are still pooing on my pool and more birds than ever.

Product is flat. I guess I didn’t read the description closely enough and that is my fault. In my mind I though I was going to get an actual product that was 3 dimensional such as what you see when the owl is actually statue like. This is a graphic owl on a flat piece of sheet metal. I think it did work as it blew in the wind with some reflection coming off the metal. Just be aware of the listed dimensions. This owl is flat and must be hung like a wind chime. I didn’t return the product and for the price it was worth trying.

It worked like it was supposed to work. I hung the owl in a tree where birds like to feed on the berries. From the first hours, no more birds. So far anyway. Thanks.

I like this purely for that fact that it's about $9-10. A lot of people bought this thinking it's a 3D product, including me! But when I got it, it came in a flat envelope. I first was annoyed but then I gave it a shot. Works great!! It hangs from a tree or in my case a patio. It really works!!! Birds used to hang out on my patio furniture, but no more!And because it is light and moves easily in the wind, it has motion. This motion makes it better, in my opinion, than the 3D one that costs about $17-18 and just sits there on the ground. That one is not horrible or anything, but unless you keep moving it, the birds start to realize it's a decoy. Not with this one.I did NOT get this for free or with a discount. My review is real and I only say good things about this because I think you'll benefit from it, too.One small negative, when it's really windy, it moves around so much that it doesn't do much good. But that's pretty uncommon in my area..Thanks for reading.... and see pics!

Flimsy sheet metal, not really a decoy painted one side, birds still come, now its on my carport with a bell ringin everytime it blows... waste of money

I did not look at previous reviews where they mentioned this product is a FLAT piece of galvanized metal with the picture of an Owl on one side. It will probably cost me as much as the purchase price to return this So I will do the best thing, POST this derogatory review. This is a piece of JUNK! An absolute waste of money! You can make this for about $0.75. Sell CRAP and get a crappy review.UPDATE: It's been a few months and if you're smart you stayed away from this piece of crap! Darn thing ended up two door over in my neighbors yard. People that sell this type of garbage should have sugar water pored on them then hung up by their testies over an ant hill!

I used this on a yard flag stake to keep birds from eating our grass seed. Worked well. Plastic owl in the past owl did not. After the grass came up, I took it to our dock to stop birds from nesting on the dock and it seems to be working there as well. Now I need another to stop the squirrels from chewing on the log house. A large plastic hawk has had no effect, neither did the large plastic owl. Squirrels continued to chew right next to it. I wish these would come back in stock. It is metal with a picture of an actual owl on it so it looks more real than the plastic 3D ones. They should put the image on the back as well. It moves in the breeze, the bell isn't very loud so it's not annoying.
