The abalone shell stands are hand carved out a single piece of wood and have interlocking supports and legs and are all in one piece. The stand collapses to a compact size when transporting and extends to a stable and solid stand when expanded. These stands are dyed and varnished and are ideal for medium size abalone shells or bowls that are 4-5" in length. Since each stand is hand made - each one will be unique. Also, there are rough cuts when making the stand because of the challenge of doing it from one piece of wood.
