Sturdy and comfortable. I only left off the 5th star because I can't speak to durability, particularly with regard to how the foam holds up. I suspect that this won't be a problem as most of the exercise devices that I buy end up being more prone to dustiness than to wearing out.One comment that may help some people with tightening issues - each end of this bar are threaded into the center piece. One end is conventionally threaded, the other is reverse threaded. Thus, depending on which end is to your right/left, an overhand grip will either want to tighten or loosen the bar. If it is loosening, either 1) switch to an underhand grip or 2) face the other way/reverse the bar. This wasn't mentioned in the instructions and probably should have been.

This is just bar for pullups. There are two metal disc that are held with three screws into walls across from each other. The ends of the bar fit into the disks. There is a small plastic centering device that doesn't seem to offer any benefit. You don't need them to line up the bar to the support disks. In any event, one of these plastic centering things broke off quickly. You extend the bar by rotating either end...it takes a lot of rotations to move the bar, but as long as you are not changing lengths all the time, this isn't really a problem - but it's not all that convenient to take up and down.

I was so excited to finally get it. When I did, it looked used, the box was coming apart slightly, it was not sealed and the wall ends looked like they have been used. Not really the look I want for a new item. The bar looked ok, accept for slight used rubbed marks where the hands go on the foam. It looked like someone tried to use it or used it for a small time then returned it, and I don't like that.I need a brand new one, call me old fashion, but when I purchase something I want it looking brand new. Send it back to the factory and repackage it if you need to, I don't wanna know, don't just shove it all in there and resend it. Not cool. There is a lot of pull up bars out there, and every company is selling the same ones, I wouldn't buy it from these guys again. That's if they don't already own the rest of them that are selling it, or change their name next week. Good luck!

I love this bar. It was easy to install and very sturdy as advertised. I also purchased ab straps so that I can work my core and take pressure off of my shoulders, so I don't grip the bar directly; however, I have noted that the bar is padded and would be comfortable for those who workout by gripping the bar directly.I highly recommend this bar if you want a strong, sturdy, dependable pull-up bar; have limited space and want to install one in a doorway. It is a very attractive bar as well. ~ Dee

Nice, soft grips. Relatively easy to put up. My only gripe is that the pipes that go into each other (to expand and contract to different door frame widths) were covered in rust. That leads me to believe that this had been sitting in a dank warehouse for quite sometime. Not a deal breaker, of course, but a star loss no less.

I was really worried about stability with a straight doorway bar but after installing the brackets this guy is incredibly solid. I originally got the Iron Gym but my doorframe was too big for that and this turned out to be a perfect alternative.My only issue was with the packaging, which does not hurt the product's rating, in my opinion. When I lifted the box the bar came in the bottom broke open and all the pieces and the bar fell out. Could be fixed with a few pieces of tape. Otherwise, perfect.

My husband is very happy with this and it holds his weight well. However, when the kids play with it and try to swing on it, it falls right down. If you have children in the house, you'll want to be clear with them (and their friends) that this is not for them.

It's been several weeks since I have been using my new Pull Up bar and I am happy with it. It looks good, has a comfortable grip and was easy to install. I bought it because I was never able to do pull ups and always wanted to, and in a few weeks I can already measure progress towards this goal. As some of the other reviews mentioned, the bar has a tendency to loosen, so you want to check and tighten it before each use.
