The Murder at the Vicarage

QUITE SHOCKING
Written in 1930 this book is a revelation. I`m sure I read it as a young teenager but reading it again 60 years later I recognise its brilliance. It`s not the working out of the crime that interests me but the portrayal of the characters, especially Jane Marple. I would not have, as a young person, realised the significance of Miss Marple`s last words to the vicar. She tells him to reassure his wife, Griselda, that she can keep a secret.

Wonderful
Another amazing mystery from the queen of storytelling Agatha Christie, murder at the vicarage may well be my favourite book with a colonel found murdered shot in the head in the vicarage study, there's suddenly a lot to answer for, be prepared for a real red herring here. Highly recommend.

...Miss Marple.....
.....written from the Vicar’s point of view......Miss Marple obviously respected remotely.....and with some bemusement.Classic Agatha Christie, a re-read, first read as a teenager who should have been studying for exams, instead hooked on Christie.

No as good quality as advertised
Ex library copy that some one thinking themselves a grammar and spelling expert had corrected wrongly in places eg picked shrimp was changed to pickled shrimp wrong ! She really was talking about picked shrimps

Brilliant as ever!
I love this story. It is related by the 'dear Vicar' and is the first of the Miss Marple stories in which she encounters Inspector Slack. As you would expect, the characterisations are first class and introduce a few new characters who do not exist in the TV adaptations so it is quite 'fresh' and interesting to read. A really nice cozy read.
