A Small amplifier that works just fine.
This little amplifier works well. Its size is only 3" x 13/4"x 3/8". It has a clip that you can hang in your collar or shirt. I have used similar devices down through the years. I only hear with one ear so, while it has no ability to balance the sound in each ear, it works for me. The ear piece seems fine but I have other bud sets if I do not like this one. The beauty of these amplifiers is you hear sound from the front. Just like all hearing aids it will not work in areas where there are multiple sounds (that includes the $3500 ones). Since I can only hear with my left ear I can put the amplifier so that it points towards my wife while I am driving the car. It is a little expensive but looks like the only game in town.

Works as advertised, but the on/off on the volume control doesn't stay off.
I got one of these for my 80 year old mother, who has Alzheimer's and is almost completely deaf. Before we got it, we had to get next to her ear and almost yell for her to understand what we were saying. So you can imagine how frustrating it is to be across the room and try to convey important things to her. To make matters worse, she'd watch TV with the volume cranked to the maximum, both making it uncomfortable for everyone, as well as blowing out the speakers. After we got one of these, things got so much better. We could engage in conversation with her and she'd understand, instead of smiling and nodding without knowing what was said (so frustrating). She can watch TV at a sane volume level. I showed her how to put the microphone against the earpiece of the telephone so she can talk to people, where before she shied away from picking up. It really made a huge difference to her quality of life.Back in October 2023, she fell and broke her hip, which was pretty traumatic for her. She spent a week in the hospital, and nearly a month in a rehab facility till she could get back on her feet. Having the amplifier with her made life easier for all the nurses that tended to her, and a couple of them wanted to know the model of the amplifier so they could recommend it for other patents with hearing loss.So as to what could be better with this amplifier, the volume control wheel needs a better means of shutting it off. It doesn't stay off. You can turn it off, the red light goes off, and as soon as you set it down, the light will be on again. Devices with more than 3 buttons are no good for my mom, it's too "techy" for her, so this device is brutally simple, but the on/off needs to be more reliable. Another thing is the clip on the back needs to be a little tougher. Mom would clip this to her shirt, to her pants, to whatever she needs, and often that puts a lot of pressure on the clip, and eventually it broke off. Plastic probably isn't the best choice for this, and a metal clip would make it a little more rugged. On another note, I'd suggest buying a cheap pair of headphones that cover the entire ear and have the capability to plug in a 3mm male to male cable to them and the amplifier. It does help with the audio quality, and is more comfortable as well, especially if you or that certain someone you care for doesn't like ear buds or other in the ear kind of headphones. It's not perfect, but when it works, it works perfectly. It just has a few quirks that can be worked out if the company that makes it wants to do a new version of this. It can change the quality of life of an elderly loved one, and it can change the quality of life of those around them too!

Works Great
This was bought for use by my 93 year old dad who does not wear hearing aids. He uses it when he goes to church. He is pleased with the way it works, he can hear and understand whoever is speaking during the church service.

Does amplify sound well
Excellent volume and control. Picks up slightest movement or touching of the unit, which may make it unusable for some people to use.I needed to amplify tv while leaving speakers at lower level for my wife. Works good for me.Sound is extremely tinney, even with high quality earbuds, but I don't mind that.

Didn't like it
I tried to use this for deer hunting. It was a bad ideal when I put it in my ear, I was annoyed with all of the sounds that was in my ear at the same time. I couldn't hear the small noises because of the louder noises-such as cars and other things.

Does not replace hearing aids.
The Device is not suitable for my use. I use hearing aids and the quality of sound from the device is not so good. The Panasonic earphones are excellent, but I have no use for them. I will be returning both items.

It just works
If I had ordered this 1.5 years ago I would have saved thousands of dollars. To put it simple this device amplifies clearly with no annoying squeal and to a level that is comfortable. It is important to get earphones and or ear bud replacements that fit your ears correctly and are comfortable. The AAA batteries seem to last forever, especially compared to the button batteries used in the in ear amplifiers. At age 82 I finally found a device that allows me to easily hear again. I like it so much I have bought another for backup. The old adage of KISS applies 100% to this product.
