Marvelous!
An absolutely marvelous introduction to the Pleiades and their stories around the world. Loved the writing style and weaving of myth with astronomy, plus Andrews provides lots of reference material, which is great as I’m now diving down the rabbit hole on a great adventure into the stars!

I purchased this book years ago for a college course and apparently forgot to leave feedback at the time so I don't really remember more then I enjoyed it and it was very useful for my paper.

Not an academic work by any means
Lots of interesting information but take it with a grain of salt. It's light on sources, it includes a lot of opinion/hearsay, and there's a very heavy element of superstition and magical thinking throughout. If you're looking for an academic summary of cultural knowledge, this is definitely not that. It's more a collection of personal and anecdotal stories.

excellent!
This is an excellent, well written book about the seven sisters of the pleiades. It is very well researched and informative. I constantly refer back to this book for information and insight. The only thing this book lacks is an index. An index would greatly help in searching for information in the text. Highly recommended!

This is a background read to help understand the Lucinda ...
This is a background read to help understand the Lucinda Riley seven sisters books - she takes some of the characteristics of the sisters in the heavens and places them in twenty-first century characters. The author, Munya Andrews, is an Australian Aborigine, who is well read and gives respect both to science and ancient mythologies about the Pleiades.

Not an easy read
Be aware, this book is more like an accademic paper than a text book.

Disappointing
I only give this OK because there are aspects I thought could have been handled better. Saying this however, I think it is a good book and certainly the best currently available on the legends associated with the Pleiades. The fault for me lies in the heterodox jumble of material that should be accepted at face value, but occasionally the author lapses into a judgement on the material, which may or may not be correct. I do think an author should have an opinion, so its not so much that they have an opinion, but that they express it, which mars the presentation of all legends and myths being of value in themselves. Hence why its only OK and not higher. A judicious editing of some of the repetitive strains would be useful too. Finally, there are a number of mythologies not explored or only touched on, which would give a broader range and depth, for instance the central American mythology was mentioned but deserved a chapter to itself. Other mythologies, such as the Baltic, which would have given an Ur-European viewpoint were not mentioned at all.
