Shame on you for taking advantage of gap in market!
Absolutely terrible. I am currently teaching this novel to A Level students as it is part of the new specification. I realised that there was an opportunity for someone to write a revision tool to accompany the brilliant novel but didn't think I could do the novel justice myself whilst still teaching. Oh, how I wish I had given it a go! This is absolutely awful and, to any students looking for wider reading material, don't waste your money. This is basic and often inaccurate and will be of no assistance to those studying the Crime Writing unit of the AQA examination. It has clearly been cobbled together to take advantage of the fact that this is a completely new text on the syllabus. The novel is full of intertextual references and this guide is oblivious to many of them. In the section on how to write an essay, the author couldn't even be bothered to base his guidance on crime fiction, instead choosing irrelevant poetry. Just read the novel carefully, enjoy it and use one of the AQA authorised text books to support your studies. Good luck students and shame on you Mr Broadfoot - hope you have broad shoulders too!!
