Quik Shade Weekender W144 Instant Canopy 12x12 Feet

We use five of these canopies to cover the firing line while small bore prone rifle matches are in progress. Our canopies must be 12' x 12' with straight legs and Quik Shade is one of the few with these specifications. The club originally bought four Quik Shade a few years ago and these had a white rather than green canopy and the metal frame was white as well.Two of these were damaged by a wind gust because they were not staked down - our fault. The club recently bought two more Quik Shade Weekender 144 Instant Canopies. Cosmetically, these are different than the originals: the fabric is green, and the metal frame is black. More importantly, the metal in the frame is much lighter gauge steel. I estimate the frame weighs 25% to 33% less than the originals. The "tent pegs" that came with the originals were heavy duty - about 8" long by 1/4" diameter. The pegs with the new canopies are 4" long pieces of light gauge wire and totally useless.At the last match the wind was 15 to 20 mph. The new green canopies were staked down with the old, heavy duty pegs. The new canopies did not blow over, but the legs on one of them simply bent due to the wind. This unit had to be thrown away. The old white canopies were not damaged by the same wind.Another disappointment is that of the two new units, only one had the straight, vertical legs as advertised. The legs of the second one have a definite slant.Bottom line is that the manufacturer has reduced its cost by using lighter metal for the frames and pegs as compared to the ones purchased a few years ago. This plus slightly angled rather than straight legs makes these barely usable for our purposes.

I got this on sale and have been VERY satisfied with it! Very happy with the amount of shade and durability. Perfect for family outings, picnics, etc. Would not recommend for heavy use as it would probably not last as long. Built for medium to low use. I did have a warranty claim right out of the box. One of the bolts and a plastic piece were missing. I filed an RMA and had the parts in no time. It was easy to put them on myself and the customer service was helpful. I did have to send in pictures of where the parts were missing as proof, along with my Amazon receipt, but the RMA was fulfilled immediately!Unfortunately I later broke two legs in a late night wind storm. It was purely my fault as I had lowered it, but hadn't staked it down. I was able to get replacement legs, but only in Beige/Gray. It took nearly six months as they couldn't seem to keep the black ones in stock and wouldn't let me order if not in stock, which was disappointing. I opted to order four legs so they would all match, which was still under forty dollars with shipping. Again, well worth it!

I ordered this canopy to replace an older one that had many years of use! I LOVE the size and it gives us ample space while at camp, either from the sun or the rain! I love that it has 3 height adjustments and we can adjust it where we like. It is lighter then our previous canopy and it is more compact in size (yet bigger shade area). My only complaint is that the canopy part is only held on by strong velcro and there are no velcro loops to actually attach the canopy top to the frame securely (for windy weather). It does have loops that you can attach rope/tie lines to and stake down. Wish it also had sidewalls to close off the area from sun or rainy weather.

I had a 10x10 EZ-Up canopy for 10 years and was looking pretty ragged. I searched on EZ-Up's website for a replacement but in a larger size (12x12). I came across the Regency model on Amazon but to make a long story short, they (EZ-Up) discontinued that model/size and I had to look elsewhere for another manufacture.I came across Quik Shade Weekender W144 and was a little hesitant to purchase due to the reviews and not knowing the company myself.When it came today, I immediately set it up to inspect for flaws or manufacturing defects - NONE FOUND - Ya!I believe this will be a great asset to my needs and to those that had issues with there canopy's in wind storms and heavy rain, THEY ARE NOT BUILT TO WITHSTAND THOSE ELEMENTS, JUST SHADE and a little light rain.Use common sense and your QS Weekender will last for quite awhile.

We only used it 2x per year. I loved the quality of the product for the first few years, but year three one leg bent and then broke. No wind, no weight on the leg. We had to force it down to close it so we could take it back home. I like the quality of the fabric and I thought it was going to be much more durable. I went to purchase another one, but saw the price went up over $20.

This is the one to buy...I just got my second one and I use it more than I thought I would. The Weekender is made from quality material, it's not one of the cheap flimsy ones that are out there, that's why when I needed another one, I got another Weekender 144.I saw a review on this as cheap because they won't stand up in a storm....really?..get a grip... It's a portable, quick (and easy) up, Quik SHADE canopy. It is not to be used as protection from a torrential downpour with high winds....It's a quik SHADE canopy. Compare it to most of the other ones out there and you will see the quality. I have used mine when it rained and it was just fine but it (and few if any are at this price) is not made for protection from a hard storm. The material and the frame are sturdy and well built and will give you good service if you use some common sense.

I love this canopy very much! This is the second one I've bought plus a friend liked it so much after seeing it in action he bought one for himself. These are great, the construction and design is very well thought out and provide plenty of shade on those hot sunny days plus it has a really nice transportable case. I'd recommend picking one of these up if you're in the market for a 12x12 Shade Canopy.

This thing is great, because of other reviews I was nervous about even a little rain. We had a decent downpour for about an hour and it was fine. I wouldn’t leave it up and leave for the day but only because of the reviews. If you do I’d suggest sticking pool noodle pieces in a few places to help the angle and you’d be fine. Super easy to put up and take down.
