Design ToscanoAL32920 Art Deco Whippet Greyhound Sentinel Dog Statue, antique stone

I have a whippet and couldn't resist ordering this statue for my front porch. However, the base wasn't stable enough to keep it from tipping over in a fairly strong wind and it broke. It's a lightweight material and not really "antique stone" as in the product description. If I had it to do over again I would put it in a flower bed so if it blew over it wouldn't break. But I'm not ordering another.

Looks great. Sturdy piece to sit by our door, but not too heavy for my wife to lift. When the one we first ordered arrived, there was a large hole in the side of the statue. Amazon replaced immediately. The second one arrive broken as well, this time across the base. Amazon again replaced (after we returned the second). Third time was the charm!

It looks like a real old and ancient marmol, very light, but strong. I used gorilla all purpose glue to put it into a stone step. It surprised me. I recommend it 100%

This statue is great, looks like it much more expensive, it has a guard like posture. Exquisite detail.

It arrived damaged. That stuff happens. But it is really poor quality. Don't know what it is made of but it feels like a cheap lump of plastic and not £100. I'm glad it was damaged. Don't want it.

This is a surprisingly lightweight, hollow resin statue, that has had a touch of artificial weathering so that it already looks like stone from a distance. It’s obviously been mass-moulded in a representation of a whippet that’s mostly very sweet- the tail rising up the back leg is a particularly nice touch- but unfortunately there’s something about the translation into stone statue that has given it a slightly demonic look. The blank emotionless eyes are the main problem, but other little details such as the unnaturally well-aligned row of toes add to the impression that there’s something slightly eerie about it. My daughter is trying to convince me to paint it, to make it look nicer she says. I’m tempted, at least in the eyes, because it might help make it look less unsettling- or perhaps painting the eyes black would make it even worse…It comes with a small pamphlet, “Winter Care Of Statues And Fountains” which emphasises how fragile a resin statue will be compared to a proper stone one. If the pamphlet is to be believed, you shouldn’t even think about leaving the statue outside whenever there’s even a slight possibility that the weather might be bad! Hopefully it will turn out to be more durable than the pamphlet suggests, as otherwise I’m not sure I see the point of a statue which is supposed to be kept hidden in the gardeners’ shed for half the year. To be fair it’s a generic pamphlet that is probably more relevant to water fountains, but still. The phone number given for support is an American number, surprisingly.So as a budget alternative to getting a proper stone statue, this is quite a neat idea. However the eerieness of the design is just something I can’t get over, and the way the instructions imply that the statue has very low durability is strangely off-putting.

This is a very striking sculpture. It looks like it is stone but is made of a resin which makes it surprisingly light.The detail is very good, no issues at all with cracks.Perfect for lovers of whippets and greyhounds, a great talking point for the garden.Price is slightly high but you will decide if it's right for you.

A very large, prominent, and well made statue. A very solid and quality piece which stands tall in a corner of my garden. Will be very hard wearing in the weather, but I'm hoping it takes on a more weathered look soon so that it blends in with the wild flower section I have placed it in.
