Hearing problems? This will help for sure.
Read other reviews before buying and was a bit of a sceptic, as all, except one, were so glowing in their comments that they were unbelievable. Well with the promise of a money back guarantee for 30 days use I felt that there was no risk in going ahead. It arrived on time, always a good sign. Well packaged with all pieces in the box. Once unpacked, using the supplied leads I rigged the system to use but not as a leave for ever wired up and positioned system. It was so simple, especially as I was using an optical cable from the TV to an amplifier on my previous set up. All switched on and it seemed to be doing, in part what it was supposed to do. I say in part as the remote control required some alteration to get a sound that I, with a one ear hearing assistance, found within my hearing levels. After a further 10 days I have just about sorted out the settings I require. Bear in mind that each film, each channel, each programme might need the settings to be changed. It does not seem to be a set it up and leave system. Some TV channels are too much bass or too much treble. I found that some programmes had a variation in the sound dependent on if it was a man or woman speaking. This system alters the sound levels to suit. A very versatile piece of kit for which I am thankful.I have given the best rating possible and hope it will give me a few years of good service and help others that are thinking of making a purchase.2 months on and I am finding that this unit does all I want from it. Main problem is that my wife has different hearing needs to mine, her hearing is about normal. This give some small conflict as to the volume level but we work it out ok.

Can now hear and understand the dialogue on the TV.
This is a great device if you are of a certain age where things don't sound like they used to.Long story short, the high frequency end of my hearing is bad, everything sounds like the treble is turned to -10 and the middle and bass is around 9.Follow the instructions and the installation is simple. If your familiar with connecting a DVD device you'll have no problem, all cables are supplied. It can also be used as a Soundbar, although it wont be the same as a dedicated unit, but it is still way better than a lot of in TV audio, you can also connect your mobile phone so that phone playlists can be enjoyed on a wider Theater experiance.Well worth the money.

Lifts out the dialogue so that it's audible
Had a top end sound bar which was brilliant except for it's ability to make basic dialogue audible. Purchased this unit and both mine and my wife's T.V. enjoyment has greatly improved as we can now clearly hear the dialogue. There are various setting to improve the general sound quality as well which are personal preferences.

Fed up with the mumbling and poor quality sound recordings
I must admit to being somewhat skepticle of the claims but being a long term sufferer of TV mumbling - i thought I owed it to myself to try it out.Well - I have only had the speaker a short while, and have not yet had the opportunity to test the speakers full capabilities,. ( just 1 day before being asked for a review). However, my observations so far are very very favourable.Compact and an absolute doddle to install, with 12 levels of speech enhancement of the spoken or mumbled word, unbelievable as it sounds it does exactly what it says on the jar.No more turning the sound up and down on the TV remote control between poor quality sound recorded scenes, likewise when changing channels or the annoying commercials blasting out loud.Brilliant ! Level of sound kept at a consistent level and 12 levels of speech enhancement to-boot and I haven't even tried the 3 filtered levels of sound surround yet which offers more improved sound senarios. If you suffer from the effects of deminished hearing capabilities and old age - you owe it to yourself also to give this sound bar a try. You'll be glad you did !

Unit Ceased to Function after Several Days and was Completely Dead!
Ordered this item, set it up to a dated Sony Bravia TV using the fibre-optic "digital" cable. It worked OK for a few days and then ceased to function. No longer able to power it up and it was completely dead. Being experienced in electronics, I tested the mains power supply for output. It was 15V DC and seemed OK. The batteries in the remote also tested OK. So I naively decided to open it up and see if there was possibly a fuse inside that had blown. Having opened it up, I assume that I will no longer be able to return it under "guarantee." However, I can describe my experience for others, possibly to discourage them from doing likewise, and should their ZVOX units fail the same way, they will simply return them under guarantee, and the manufacturer may be able to diagnose the failure.GETTING INSIDE THE UNITThe black front grill was gently prized off to reveal three small elliptical loudspeakers and a transparent window for the digital display and the IR diode for the remote control. (Batteries checked OK.) The outer cross-head screws were all unfastened and the front plate housing the loudspeakers gently prized out. This revealed the three pairs of wires feeding audio to each of the loudspeakers, secured by differing sizes of spade terminals that were pulled off. There was also a multiway ribbon cable connecting from the main printed circuit board to the display unit. The single main printed circuit board inside was secured by two cross-head screws hidden under the rear sticky label that identified the input connections to the unit. There was also a load of unpleasant, solidified, black plastiky goo that secured the printed circuit board to the rear of the casing over the input connectors. This became easier to remove with the application of some heat from a heat gun. All the electronics were surface-mount construction with no fuses easily discoverable and impossible to do anything much really to attempt fixing the unit. Some of the ICs on the board were VLSI with many tiny connections. Curiously the label on the back makes reference to the FCC in the USA concerning the possibility of radio interference. There was a crystal on the board, possibly for timing and clocking functions. I remembered that a loudspeaker can be used in reverse as a microphone, but couldn't see any reason to make use of that function. So I won't be sending it back, although I guess it's probably a "throw-away item," but instead, plan to install two small audio amplifier modules in the casing to replace the original electronics and drive the original loudspeakers. It will no doubt lack the original likely "digital signal processing" to "clarify" the unsatisfactory audio output from the flat screen tv, but it should hopefully give some improvement to the sound output for another member of the family, who is hard of hearing. I guess you win some and you lose some, but I shall be wary about ordering such items so readily in future.
