Not too spicy, my 2 year old grand son is pounding these down like candy. Big hit in the house. Will definitely buy again.

The freshness was amazing, texture was everything, the taste was great. My children, hubby n i love these. They come from my home town. Anytime i can order i surely do.

Ordered a habanero pack at first and it was 5 star material. Taste and texture were great, the sticks came neatly organized like in the picture, and firmness was just right. Even when you first rip the bag open an intense cloud of habanero beef smell fills the room. The only downside was stomach cramps from being too spicy but that's an inevitable side effect.Fast forward a couple weeks later I decide to order the hot flavor. This time it is not 5-star material- not just taste-wise, but other much larger factors. First, the sticks were all jumbled up as if someone had shaken the bag a few times; of course it really is not a big deal at all, but after opening them up I noticed the sticks were also slightly mushy rather than firm. It is kind of like the difference between an al dente and overcooked noodle, with the skin losing some elasticity and insides being mushy and rather unpleasant. This bad feel paired with the poorly organized sticks made me wonder if there was a shipping issue, as this time there was no intense scent bomb despite being a year before the best-by date- probably a small hole in the bag I can't seem to find?I still give this 4 stars just because I want to believe that future purchases will be as good a quality as the habanero ones, and that I just got unlucky.

I like these. I would rate them 4.5. They have a good smoky flavor and are not greasy.Two notes:1) A lot of reviews say they taste like Slim Jims. I like the taste of these but they do not taste like Slim Jims. Slim Jims have their own distinctive taste, which I like and as of yet not seen duplicated. These have a very rich smoky flavor. They taste very good but not like Slim Jims.2) Peppers all taste differently to me. Though these are Habanero flavored you can't really tell. So yes they have a hot spiciness. But because of the deep smoke flavor it's very hard to discern the Habanero distinct taste. Maybe I can just pick out a bit of the Habanero taste. But I would be hard pressed to guess these were make with the Habanero pepper versus any other pepper if it wasn't written on the package.Once the bag is opened you will have to place them into some other airtight container if you want to keep them fresh. Which is fine by me.I will be buying these again. I hope the manufacturer reads this and maybe can add a bit more Habanero flavor or a bit less smoke flavor so that the Habanero stands out more.

I miss the days of true quality control. These snack are delicious, but you take the chance of chipping a tooth on a piece of bone more frequently than you'd like. I can remember eating a whole bag years ago and not having to worry about this issue. Times have changed, and the quality just is not there anymore. As delicious as these snack are, I'm not willing to play bone roulette.

I purchased the Hot Shorts due the overwhelmingly positive reviews. I'm not sure how they managed to get so many positive reviews when I am really having a hard time finding any redeeming qualities in their product.Taste: 1/5About the only thing these have going for them is that the spices used seem to be powerful enough to help cover up some of whatever the heck they've got going on inside these things. These taste like wet cardboard that has had a bunch of spices mixed into it, then wrapped in a thin paper tube and dried out. Most likely this means it is almost all Filler with very little real beef involved, if it is actually real beef, then the cuts used to create this would be questionable at best because I've never had any real beef that had a taste or texture anywhere close to what this is, ground up or not.Texture: 0/5The tube it is wrapped in feels like a thin paper tube that was once wet, then dried out. The inside feels like a mixture of fat and wet cardboard, a nasty combination that makes it mushy with a slimy film when you eat it.Recommendation:- Steer Clear, if you are looking for something that tastes remotely beef like, then this is not the product for you. It is a highly processed product, that tastes like it is mostly filler with little if any real beef involved in the making of the product. I will never purchase these again and will be throwing out the package as I just can't even force myself to eat these. You will get 100x more beef flavor out of a simple bullion cube than you will out of this entire package combined, and sadly I don't even feel like that is an exaggeration.
