Size:4 Ounce (Pack of 1) Imperial Ren Shen Ginseng Oolong is composed of oxidised oolong enveloped in ginseng and Chinese vanilla, the rich, crisp Oolong taste of this tea offers a refreshing velvety taste that segues into a predominant nuttiness after a few infusions. Ginseng Oolong tea (also known as Ren Shen, or Lady Orchid) is an invigorating blend of high quality oolong and ginseng. This energetic, strong drink keeps you active and on your feet all day long naturally boosting your energy. Renowned for its orchid-like aroma, Imperial Ren Sheng Ginseng leaves a lingering, sweet aftertaste of Chinese vanilla to soften the light bitterness of raw ginseng.

Sweet fragrance missing :(
I was really disappointed with this tea. I was a huge fan of their other tea "Tealyra - Ginseng Oolong Premium - Best Taiwanese Oolong".When I open the bag, I was expecting the sweet lovely scent that I usually smell when I open the bag of the previous tea I bought. But this scent did not have the sweet floral scent as the previous tea. Not only that but there was this almost bad odor that I could not quite identify but almost smelled rotten.I checked the ingredients on the bag and there is a third ingredient listed that is not in the description of the product. Called "Chinese Xiang Cao." I have provided a picture of the bag listing this extra ingredient. The previous tea that I loved did not list this ingredientI decided to go ahead and try the tea in the hopes that it would be better once I made it.I am sensitive to the fishy scent that you get with some teas. I did not smell the fishy flavor at all with their other tea. But it was strong with this one. It diminishes after the drink cools though. After the drink cooled, the tea was tolerable. But I was hoping for more. Mostly, I missed the sweet floral fragrance present in the other tea.The other thing I noticed was that the leaves do not unfurl. I don't know if this means there is something wrong with it or not. I have provide a close-up picture of the leaf which never unfurled next to a new unheated granule.I tried to get a refund but it says no refunds are allowed. I was going to buy the other flavor again that I liked previously, but I feel afraid that maybe they changed something about the quality of their leaves and I won't be able to refund that either.

Worst ginseng oolong I’ve had (and I’ve had a lot)
Ginseng oolong is one of my favorite types of tea and I’ve tried many different versions and brands in both the US and China. Tealyra’s “premium” version is not bad at all, so I thought I’d try this one, at almost half the price. Unfortunately this one is TERRIBLE. Among the worst I’ve ever had - even worse than ones that are cheaper still. No ginseng flavor, no tea flavor, just flavorless. The pellets are packed so tightly (or so old?) that leaves don’t unfurl even at higher temperatures or with longer steeping times than what’s recommended on the package. Very disappointed and wish I could get a refund.

It's ok.
Is it the best ginseng oolong I've ever had? Lol no. Is it the worst? Also no. What can I say, it's $22 for a half lb. No one can possibly think they're getting primo tea for that price. The oolong is a little too bitter, and there's not enough licorice root in the powder coating to make it taste quite right....but for the price it'll get the job done.

Excellent Tea
I combine this tea with tumeric tea and green tea, brewing all of them together as a tonic. It is my morning drink and it rather quickly energizes me and relives me of all body aches. As a 73-year old type II diabetic with neuropathy, speaking only for myself, this tonic is a great comfort for me. I also brew this tea alone without the other teas and it energizes me all by itself. Oolong tea has a distinct taste and it goes down easy. I love Oolong tea and the Tealyra brand for me is a high quality product.

Love love this Tea!!!
I love it. I visited a tea shop in Chinatown (San Francisco) and bought some ginseng tea....it was so expensive so I have been looking for an amazon product that I could use and this is it! It tastes amazing! I love it. Perfect morning pick me up!

low quality
Ginseng Olong is one of my favorite teas. I tried multiple producers and sources of the team to date. This particular tea tastes pretty plain and doesn't have the pleasant and rich bitter-sweet after taste I'm looking for when drinking Ginseng Olong. Instead, it tasted pretty plain and I'm not sure I'll be drinking much of this one anymore.Should not be called "Imperial" should not be called "Best" which is quite misleading...

UPDATED--VERY UNHAPPY! I really like this tea!
UPDATE-8-19-3rd time I ordered it was so full of vanilla it was undrinkable. Found out how bad it was just after my return date had passed. Now I'm stuck with bad tea and I don't think I wanna try mu luck again. It was truly awful..... This is delicious tea. I like it strong with a touch of sugar. Hot, cold or in-between. I'm back for more. Tried a few others and was disappointed.

Returning for more...
The catch is to steep it carefully, using water that's not too hot (175°), and steeping not too long (4 minutes max). The result is smooth, a bit sweet, with a welcome after-kick. (If it seems either bitter or weak, tinker with your method.) I find the same batch can be steeped twice.
