Works, but not precise.
It took around an hour and a half to install the new shell. 45 or more minutes of it was taking one screw and attempting to thread the plastic holes where the screws should go (they are not threaded by default). It took some manual labor, but it was doable. I could look past this annoyance (though really wish it I didn't have to). After finishing, I went to calibrate the controller to test out the octagonal gate, which was my main reason for purchasing this product (I have attempted it myself in the past with another shell, but failed in the end). The up direction is perfect! However, the right and down are off by a small degree, and the left is off by a bit more (to the point where the circle thing on the calibration is ABOVE the left side line). For fighting games, this might be fine, but I was going to use this product in other games where a slight degree off does matter (due to how sensitive the directions are on the pro controller for movement). Now I have to debate on which of these I want to do:1) Keep the faceplate on and know that I have to adjust for three directions.2) Switch back to my stock faceplate.3) Sand off the corners more of this product (which I failed in the past as mentioned)4) Look for another product.5) Perhaps ask for a tested version of this product?Recalibrating the controller with the switches Calibrate feature won't fix the problem.

Worth it of you want octagonal gate.
Been playing SSBU for a while now and had been wishing the joysticks had octagonal gates. I'd seen custom jobs on etsy but it was $$. Finally a company decided to make a shell mod for a more reasonable price. The swap was fairly straightforward with the exception that the screw driver provided stripped the screw that held the left handle cover on and nearly stripped the right one as well. So I has to destroy the left cover to be able to get the screw out. Definitely use your own precision screw driver's of you have them. The fit is 98%, the replacement handle covers aren't exactly flush with the rest of the back cover and leaves a bit of a lip. Doesn't seem to affect overall comfort but just something to note.Overall pretty satisfied with the mod and would recommend.

Octagonal gate thumbstick awesomeness!!! Buy it and forget wanting a gamecube controller.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This shell is simply an amazing fit and feel!!! I had no issues with teardown or reassembly. The fit on all seams is tight and as uniform as the original shell. The octagonal gate thumb sticks give this the feel of a gamecube thumb stick. The look is amazingly close to original NES. Bridging the gap from 1980 all the way to today. My intent is to play Mario 3D allstars with the original 8 sided thumbsticks. This gives back the original feel of N64, GCN, and Wii thumbsticks. Mario needs these 8 directions to properly navigate without falling off course. I'm sure this will bring all of that to the table. I was wary to teardown a true Nintendo controller shell and put on a 3rd party shell but Extreamerate proved me absolutely wrong. They know without any doubt how to mold plastic without flaws. My single and only caveat was the handles took multiple tightening phases before the handles finally stopped a tiny side to side twist movement. Once on my 3rd tightening I finally dared put the force to torque each handle down until they finally set into there final rest position without and remaining looseness. I would say it's as simple as don't over do these last 2 screws. Just repeat torque a few times and let it settle. The plastic didn't seem to have any plans whatsoever in stripping out. Just don't over do it right away work the screws in slowly and repeat as needed. I love this new shell already and its oy been installed 5 minutes. I even reviewed this product prior to heavyweight testing. That is how much faith I have to is going to be excellent. 5 star must buy if you want a gamecube feel from a pro controller. I bought a new pro controller and used this shell to make my old pro controller new and as a bonus make it smash bros and 3d mario perfection!!! NLP est. 1980.

Directions aren't 100% perfect, but that's okay
WARNING: I recommend that you DO NOT use the included screwdriver for unscrewing the two screws on the bottom of the controller (and just in general). Get yourself a better screwdriver that has a good grip. It will make it much easier. This product isn't perfect. The main disappointment from this is that the octagonal shape isn't exactly aligned to the sticks' ends. When holding the extreme ends using the notches, they will be misaligned. In my case, for each axis, the vertical ends shift to the left, and for the horizontal axis, the ends shift upwards.I managed to make the accuracy a little better by applying pressure against the shifts when installing the faceplate and only screwing in the opposite sides fully in while leaving the biased sides screwed in halfway. It manages to fix the problem but now the left side doesn't go all the way. Without the fix, it's about a 10% misalignment. With the fix, it's like <1% at best and 3% at worst. As for the installation, I've opened my controller before to do the renowned D-pad fix so it wasn't much of an issue for me. It even comes with a ton of extra screws which I'm happy about.Overall, if you're interested in this, I'd say wait until the manufacturers produce a revision with better accuracy, then there may be a better product you'd be entertaining. But I think I'm okay with this.

I purchased the white version
Installation was easy, doesn't take long to take off a few screws. 5/5Has a soft feel to it and doesn't feel flimsy or cheap. The gaps between the handles and the body are minimal and not that much noticeable. My only complaint after holding the controller over a long period of time is the smooth surface of the handles prevents any air circulation which can make your hands sweat. Never noticed that from the original pro shell. 4/5Now the price of this is not cheap. You're essentially paying almost 50% of the original price tag of a pro controller for just a shell. Would I buy another? Probably not at the current price tag (at the time of purchase, $26). 3/5

Snazzy!
This was bought as a birthday gift for my godson. He loved it & likes the fact you can just change parts rather than the whole thing. It looks really snazzy & so far is holding up well ( and believe me when I say it is well used!)
