Riddles for Smart People: 100+ Original Puzzles to Solve with Friends (Books for Smart People)

My family loves riddles, puzzlers, and jokes, but it's rare to find a book with truly original and well thought-through content. (Seriously, we've wasted too much money on lazy rehashes of the same old riddles). As a family, we do 1 or 2 riddles each night during dinner and it's often the family highlight of the day. The riddles are well presented, with three staged clues to help us toward the answer. My 12-year-old is often upset when we put the book away until tomorrow! If you have a child (or grown-up) in your life that likes clever riddles, or if you want to bring your family together to work through clues, this is a great purchase. I'm planning to buy more copies for my friends and family this holiday season.

These are more like scenarios for which you try to figure out how or why something has happened. I was looking for more traditional sorts of riddles, I suppose.

If you grew up with Stories With Holes, you'll love the format of some of Riddles for Smart People's longer puzzles. They're mind-bending in the best way, and they'll get you thinking in new and creative ways. But one of the best things about this book is the variety offered — there are quick little one-liners, multi-paragraph word problems, and everything in between. You're sure to find something for the crew you're playing with (and hint: these work great over Zoom too).

My wife and I got this book to make talking to each other during COVID lockdown fun again. We treat the riddles as conversation starters and see how ridiculous we can get to find a solution - and sometimes its actually the answer! The hints are also good, giving away small pieces without making it obvious. Highly recommend to anyone who is tired of the same old riddles.

This book is so much fun! A brilliantly written book of riddles and brain teasers that will make you think and is a great way to stir up conversation. During Thanksgiving dinner we cracked it open and took turns trying to solve riddles. It was a great time! Highly recommend.

This book has a ton of riddles and clever wordplay! Great way to break up an evening at home, or use as a game on a video call with friends afar right now! Excited for Volume 2.

Excellent riddles! These are fun, challenging, and entertaining!

I'm not usually one that'll pick up a book of riddles, but this is a good mix of hard ones and easy ones so if ever I get stuck on one I'll flip to one of the easy sections and feel good about myself :DArrived really fast, (in time to entertain the family at Christmas).It's paperback but the cover has is a nice feel to it - kinda soft with a matt finish - I guess it's the way it's printed but it gives it a classy feel so certainly made me happy! :)

We love doing riddles on car journeys, this book made the time fly by and has been a hit now we are home too. My brother has it too, and its been fun to talk through ideas with him and his family - each riddle soon becomes more of a spark for all kinds of weird conversations than just a puzzle to solve. I would recommend this book to anyone!
