I'm a scientist and professor and, yes, I like old-school pencils (and am picky about them and sharpeners). Working at home one day, I said I missed the powerful and fast sharpener on campus. Knowing how cheap I am and that I would consider this a splurge (lol), my fam ordered this and we're very happy with it. Running on AC (electricity from an outlet), it definitely outperforms all battery-operated sharpeners. Even with an electrical cord, it's small and light enough to very easily move from room to room. Plus, no more batteries to buy or change! The repository for shavings is generously sized so emptying can be done infrequently. My children attend(ed) Montessori schools where high-quality pencils are the norm, colored pencils are used extensively, and pencil sharpening is a class job, and this sharpener also earns their approval. Shaving is symmetric and precise. Any down side? Hm, it's not whisper quiet, but that's normal. Great product for a super price. I should have gone wild & crazy sooner. 😉

I bought this to sharpen my fairly expensive soft wax (Prismacolor) and oil -based (Faber-Castell Polychromos) colored pencils. PERFECTION! Not a single lead has broken and all sharpen to a super fine and sharp point, although there is also an option on the sharpener for flatter points. Prismacolors in particular are noted for their cores breaking, but they have held up since I bought this several months ago.I ended by temporarily bed-ridden due to an accident and I spent a lot more time than usual coloring and doing art work. This sharpener was a life saver as it did not have to be plugged in and it sharpened everything quickly. I am still on the same batteries so it is long-lasting also. For best results, sharpen a few graphite pencils once in a while to rid the blade of colored pencil buildup.

We have manual pencil sharpeners and a plug in pencil sharpener, so we absolutely did not need this and yet we love it. It sits on the homework cart in our kitchen and gets used constantly. It’s small enough not to be a pain, has no cord to take up an outlet and does a great job.

This battery operated pencil sharpener sharpens to a fine point quickly. Not very noisy. So far no broken points or pencils. I would recommend this to a friend.

I need to replace my Powerme sharpener after it broke when I dropped it. So to save money, I tried another highly rated sharper and it didn't hold a candle to the PowerMe. It's powerful, quiet and comes in many colors. This is as good as it gets for a battery operated sharpener.

I’m a teacher. I sharpen A LOT of pencils. Last year I bought a cheaper version of an electric sharpener and it went through so many batteries and it didn’t last the year. This one is worth the money- really fast and works well! Love it!

Much used by school student …still working well and has sharpened hundreds of pencils. Well worth the cost
