African American Slave Medicine: Herbal and non-Herbal Treatments

More like a scholar history data book then herbal medicines.
I didn't enjoy reading this, it had lots quote and language from that era which was hard to understand. The books doesn't go in depth about the cure and remedies. I didn't learn anything. It was more of a history information then an enjoyable book to read. Be aware

Insightful
This book is SOOOOOO eye opening. Initially, the connections between the multiple B-vitamin Deficiencies that often show up as "dementia" and "mental illness" is really important along with the environemental lung hazards identified. You can start to make epiginetic connections to where African Americans are today in terms of issues with asthma and more. Herbs and practices still in use in AA communities today also become revealed. Very insightful book.

Good resource.
Good and well researched. Nicely organized . We are building a medicinal garden at the Medical Museum of Mobile, and it's been very useful.

Interesting
Interesting book. Sometimes not scientific enough for a cultural anthropologist.

Outstanding Book!
Currently I am studying natural/traditional medicine and this book is loaded with excellent knowledge. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and I refer to it often. I highly recommend this book for natural remedies and nutrition support.
