I like this brand but when sleeping it was a bit too high and strained my neck a bit when I first got it. I have been trying to sit on it to flatten it out to a better height.

I'm a recent convert to the whole memory foam concept. It was only a year ago that I bought my first one, got it on a gold box deal for a great price, and instantly LOVED it. It made such a difference in my life, sleeping better than I had in years. I've been through the "sleep number" system, and having spent $2500 on a bed I ended up giving away less than a year later, I was looking forward to something less hokey, and something that delivered on what it promised.I had received a few other memory foam mattresses from Amazon through the Vine program since buying mine, but I'm still sleeping on the one I bought since that's still my favorite, even though it only cost a third of the last one I tried from the Vine program.However, I've never liked my pillows. I've gone through many kinds, including regular foam ones, but they all just didn't work that well. So when I saw THIS come up on a gold box deal, I jumped at it, since I had never really considered a memory foam pillow before.This one has two different sides, one designed to be more "heat friendly" as far as dissipating the heat from your head. I'm in Wisconsin, and we go yearly through extremes from one end of the thermometer to the other. I've had a few nights when I woke up and the pillow was damp from sweat. We've gone through some hot days and nights since I got this, and I really don't feel any temperature difference through the night using one side over the other. But that doesn't detract from my liking this pillow since I got it for the feel, not the temperature options.Both sides feel great - it has the support and comfort that every other kind of pillow I ever tried failed to deliver. One side is slightly more supportive than the other, and I find that side works best when I want to lay on my side since it helps keep my head up a little more, so it stays more inline with my shoulders and spine. The other side works great for when I want to sleep on my back or my stomach.And unlike other pillows, when I have an arm or two tucked underneath, it really doesn't impact how the pillow feels to my head.And having it conform to the shape of your head really DOES make a difference in how supported your head feels. I don't have to bunch it up some in the middle to get it to the point where it's usable. Your head sinks in it a bit and you just relax so much quicker than with a normal pillow because it doesn't feel like your ear is being squished if your'e on your side, and when you're on your back, the whole of your head takes the weight equally, and it feels wonderful.I've had less cricks in my neck since I bought this. I haven't once woken up to a sore neck or had any pain when trying to turn my head "straight" after laying on my stomach sleeping all night with my head turned to one side.Gold box deal or the normal Amazon price, this pillow is worth the cost.

It's really hard to give this a rating since I'm a little torn. If you are used to down or generic "fluffy" pillows (like I am) then I think it comes out a 1 or a 2. But if you like or are used to memory foam pillows it probably gets a 5.I tend to sleep back and sides most often. So I liked soft pillows but with enough fluff to support when I slept on my side. Down pillows are usually great but they lose their "fluff" so fast I have to constantly buy new pillows. Usually I am not a fan of memory foam pillows. I find them way too rigid and flat for my liking, keeping in mind that I also usually sleep with at least 2 pillows and tend to be in a somewhat reclined position when laying on back.But I decided to try based on reviews, also I really like the "doesn't get hot" feature.They did not smell bad at all out of the packaging. Like a little bit if you stuck your nose in it but not that bad. The cover they come with is also very nice. I also liked that you could very easily tell the difference between the 2 sides - one has a little more give but the other is more firm. I was obviously a little worried since they are so thin and dense but I wanted to give it a shot. I have slept on it for 2 nights so far and it's not terrible, I just find that it doesn't conform as much as they lead you to believe. I will also add it's way more comfortable on my side than back. My neck starts to hurt when I lay on my back, like it's not getting support at all. I have tried propped up, with my shoulders on the pillow, or flat, and with my shoulders off. None are very comfortable to me.Side sleep support is actually really nice though. I also tried on my stomach which was just flat out no. Not comfortable at all. Overall I haven't noticed any improvement in my sleep.I do totally notice the lack of heat generation. It's not a COLD surface by any means, but it doesn't seem to accumulate heat or get hotter as I lay on it which is very nice. Now if I could find soft plushy down pillows that do the same and never lose their shape...Again, if you're used to plushy soft pillows like me then you might not like these. But if you like memory foam and are used to its ways then I would think these are a great buy, especially for the price.

I don't know what animal they sacrificed to their gods in order to produce such a wondrous pillow but they ended up creating an otherworldy product! I was VERY hesitant in buying this pillow given its price (even though for the quality, it's pretty much the cheapest you can find) since everybody is out to gimmick people into giving them all their money. But there is not one single summer that i can ever recall enjoying in my entire life on account of the humid heat that we are constantly exposed to in Ottawa, Ontario. I've always had trouble keeping a cool head during summer nights and consequently actually getting the rest i need each night. I needed an immediate solution and i decided to bite the bullet and risk a bad purchase.Even when i received the pillow, i was unsure as to if i would've gotten my money's worth since this pillow is thinner than most and pretty heavy to boot. You have to understand, all my life i've hunted for the plushest, fluffiest pillow that i could sink my head into and here i was, holding the heaviest and thinnest pillow i've ever owned, let alone the most expensive i've ever bought. But i didn't care since i was already on the brink of madness from this blistering heat, i was going to try ANYTHING! And boy, am i ever glad i did! I had researched my options carefully before purchasing this gem and i had a choice of either ventilated pillows which are pretty damn annoying or cooling pads that work similarly as gel packs for lunch boxes which, lets be honest, don't STAY cool long enough, don't let any air circulate through which makes you sweat and move all around in the pillow case. Or i could buy this pillow that isn't cooled in any way but actually orders your head not to overheat.Let me rephrase that; IT FORCES YOUR HEAD TO STAY COOL!At this point, you're probably wondering if i'm being paid by the company right now and boy, i sure wish i was because i definitely could use the money. And i understand why you'd think that, i mean, how could something so simple as a freakin' pillow decide whether your head is hot or not? It sounds like horsespit, doesn't it? I don't know how it does what it does but it just does it. The stiffer side of the pillow has some freaky gel patch or somethin' that takes the heat that emanates from your head and spreads it out evenly over the surface of the pillow. And i know that, not just by reading the mumbo jumbo they put on their product information but from actually testing it. If i lay on it and stay at the same place for a few minutes and then scoot over on the left or right, it feels warmer than it did!Now i know what you're thinking again. You're thinking that if that's the case, eventually the pillow will suck up all your heads warmth and the pillow will get hot all around. You see, logic alone will answer that one; heat rises. It doesn't stagnate in one area. So whatever heat the pillow takes from your head and spreads around, actually gets released into the air so you never feel a thing unless you rest your head on another area, which then makes the pillow recalibrate in a minute or two and then spreads the heat elsewhere. It's like freakin' magic! No special ointments or powders needed!And those sunuvaguns took me to school in regards to pillow thickness. It turns out that the thickness of this pillow is ideal for neck support. And here i thought it would be too thin. Like i mentionned above, i used to enjoy having my head sink right into the center of a fluffy pillow. Well i never thought about it before but if i took my two hands and pressed on both sides of a fluffy pillow, i would actually get less thickness than what i get with this one! The fact that it is dense makes your head not sink in. Instead, the memory foam only gently hugs the sides of your head giving you perfect neck support! I'm a side sleeper and that's very important to me.In short, this pillow does what i paid it to do and then some. Don't be worried about the technology behind it, the density, the thinness or the price tag. If you are desparately looking for a solution to your loss of sleep on account of your head overheating, give this a shot. I'm not regretting it one bit and i don't see how you possibly could either. Keep in mind, this pillow is not a frige and will NOT cool your head. It actually does better than that in making your head not overheat which then takes away the need for cooling down. It basically removes the problem from the equation instead of trying to fix it. Just like in the movies, the best special effects are the ones you don't notice.

Once you can get past the odor the pillows have initially, they are good pillow. I've used this brand for many years, though I have found this latest purchase not quite up to the usual standard. One of the pillows is firm which I really like and need while the other is more soft and not as supportive. Also the gel portion is larger than it has been in past years which is an improvement. Overall I would recommend these pillows

My wife and I purchased two of these pillows after speaking with our chiropractor. We had recently bought memory foam mattress from to replace our 15+ year-old bed (my wife can be a little stubborn when she likes something ;) ) but we still were feeling some discomfort in our necks.Our chiropractor suggested purchasing memorably foam pillows to remedy the problem. I went in to a couple of stores to see test some out, but the price was just too high to justify purchasing. I did some research and (thankfully) came across the Sleep Innovations memory foam pillows.These pillows provide the perfect amount of support (firmness) while maintaining a comfortable softness level. In addition, they have a cooling feel that helps with overheating during warmer months of the year.Upon opening the pillows, you will undoubtably smell a "plasticy" scent. This goes away within a day or so, as long as you keep your pillow in a well ventilated area. I personally slept on mine the first night I got it, and was not bothered by it at all. My wife said she couldn't smell anything by the second night. In addition, you will notice the pillows are compressed. After a week (or less) of sleeping on it, the pillow will expand to a thicker density.These pillows are absolutely fantastic, and have completely changed the effectiveness of my sleeps! I am no longer waking up with headaches or discomfort in my neck.I give these pillows a 4 star rating, and not a 5 star rating, because the pillows are slightly pricey for my liking. That being said, I would still recommend them to anyone who wants a better night's sleep :)

I'm writing this review 10 days after purchase.The big plus of this pillow is that it stays even. I had a Lasik surgery 4 months ago, and after the surgery your eyes are quite sensitive during the healing process (6 months to a year).I used to sleep on a less even pillow and after my operation I always woke up with my eyes aching, I'm not a doctor but I'm pretty sure it's because the pillow wouldn't distribute the weight of my head evenly resulting with an increased pressure around the temple area, cutting the circulation flow in my eyes. Now that I use this pillow, my eyes are less sore during the morning, the only negative point I'd have to give is that the pillow is a little bit thin, but it might just be how it's designed, I'd have to make some research.Also, it's out of context, but from a person who had Lasik, like I said; my eyes are much more sensitive to the environment and it made me realize how sunglasses and computer glasses are important. If you want to keep your eyes healthy always wear quality sunglasses with 100% UV protection and polarized lenses, also get computer glasses since computer screens also takes a toll on your eyes.
