UPDATE BELOW.....Purchased for my 5 year old grandsons' birthday... it works sooo well. You'll need to buy some batteries - doesn't come with them. A zipper hides the battery box. Push the foot and the light comes on and slowly through the colors (not flashing) and works for about 30 minutes before turning off. This is great because sometimes he feels like he wants a night light... he nevers lasts longer than the 30 minutes it's on. It's cuddly and soft... also it's small... eyeballing it... only about 7" or 8" so tall... My grandson LOVES him. He named him fruit loops - for all the colors he cycles through. I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. Hope this was helpful.UPDATE: 2/11/2019... I ordered a second and got a very different item... the first one had a zippered back and you turned on the light by pressing the foot... The second one was a much different, lesser quality. A real disappointment. To turn it on you have to press an "on" patch on the back that is too close to the closure - so when you press it - it opens the battery pouch. :( The back is a velcro like closure and doesn't stay closed especially when you press the on patch. It uses 2 batteries instead of 3 (maybe won't last as long?)... there is an ugly pink bow that was partially broken off (two part bow - the top fell off) the first, better quality bear didn't have an ugly bow on it... I was so happy with the first one - and so disappointed by the second. The first one was a 5 star - the second one is 1 or 2 stars at best. Since they are not consistent in quality - I cannot recommend this item or seller. Bummer.

all the five star reviews are accurate... they just fail to factor in the dice roll that is the life span of this temperamental toy. sadly i have been through 3 of them (1 gift lifespan 9months; 1 replacement of gift lifespan 3 weeks; and foolishly enough 1 final replacement (because let’s face it this was for a toddler who insisted on sleeping with “bright bear” so what’s $12 for sweet dreams for EVERYONE) lifespan 75days)... decisions decisions...

I purchased this for my toddler who was having trouble adjusting to sleeping on her own. She loves this teddy. It's not super large which I actually liked, and the batteries last for a long time. Even when the batteries are run down, the lights will to continue to work, just on stuck on red since that color takes the least energy.UPDATE: 6/13/19I first wrote this review after getting the bear, which I got in September of 2016. Recently, Bearry has been shorting out when moved and I thought he was done. I came here to order another, then read some reviews that mentioned the design changed (zipper changed to velcro, switch moved etc). Well, I decided to cut into Bearry to diagnose his problem. Turns out the sauter near the switch had broken away. I stripped the wire, reattached, insulated with hot glue, and voila. Now Bearry is off to the wash while he's free of electrical equipment, and then hopefully he'll be back to normal. Considering we've had this $11 bear for 3 years, whose batteries I've replaced countless times and has also been straight up abused by 2 children....I'm impressed.

I bought this toy about a year before writing this review. Earlier today, my kids noticed a strange smell, heard unusual noise, and then saw smoke coming out of this toy. The toy felt hot on touch in the back part, where the battery compartment is. I took the battery compartment out and cut the wires as everything seemed like a shortcuttedd circuit. Please see the attached pictures of the melted plastic of the battery compartment.Also, there is a Canadian reviewer, Samira, who seemed to had experienced the same issue with her toy!This is dangerous and should be investigated. Amazon should remove it from the storefront!

I bought this for my five month old granddaughter who is intrigued with lights. The lights are really bright and the bear is soft. The bear is a little smaller than I expected but small enough and easy enough to handle for my granddaughter. The only concern I have with the bear is the possibility of an eye or nose being ripped off by my granddaughter so we supervisor wow she plays with it. We are afraid she may choke on one of the small pieces.

It's bright & my daughter sleeps with it every night. I've read other reviews & already expected it to be small. It's not bad for the size. Also, at first the lights will change in solid colors & then eventually show multi colors. The only thing I wish it had was a timer. If not, that bear will light up all night or until the batteries die. Other than that, it's worth keeping my kiddo happy & feeling safe at night.

I bought this for my daughter who has been having bad dreams and trouble getting back to sleep afterwards. Even at age 11, she loves her soft, adorable bear, and is comforted by his cheerful glow when she wakes at night. I think the gently changing light makes it much easier for her to fall back to sleep than when she was turning on her bedside lamp, especially since the bear turns off after 30 minutes. I highly recommend this line of glow toys for any family with kids who have experienced trauma, including foster care and adoption, and other anxiety-based sleep issues.

These bears give off a great amount of light and really helped my kids to feel safe as they fell asleep. They loved how the bears changed cokors and called yhem their rainbow bears. However, we purchased them as Christmas presents and one broke in January (not even a month of use) and then other is on its way out. It flickers and blinks as it tries to cycle through colors. Its something faulty with the wiring because after some juggling it works normally for a while again. These bears were only on for about 20-30 minutes a night and didn't get roughed up in bed... they sat on the kids bed shelves. Quality was just not up to par.
