Dragon Age: The World of Thedas, Volume 2

Absolutely wonderful, everything one needs to know about Thedas
This is a very well written and detailed book about the world of dragon age, the characters, lore, history and so and so forth. Marvelous art and even better stories, a true collectable for a nerd and it gets even better as it elaborates a bit more on the lore and gives extra information on all the three games along with a sort of retrospect. If you're massive fan, and miss dragon age then this book is for you.

Great but something is amiss
Contented but somehow something is missing. The book unveils the story of every character in Dragon Age. Some to an extent of great details. It even includes few special sections such as the Chant of Light, Thedosian meals and recipes and many fine details of Thedas herself. This book basically an extension of volume 1 and covers the lore of DA2 and DAI. I am looking forward to havr my free time reading every word from thia book. Sadly this 300+ book only includes the Andrastrian Chantry and its lore but not a single page about Elven Pantheons. We know in the last DLC of DA Inquisition, elven gods are the centre of it all. I wished that I could learn more about the gods in thia book but a bit turned down by the lack of providing even the basic of the elven lore. Volume 1 and 2 also lack of explaining the Fade and the Veil although the word "Fade" is mentioned throughout the books but never touched the part below the surface of it. I wish Bioware would publish an entire book explaining the extra lores im DAI. Such as the elven Pantheons and the Fade, which is for me the core of the World of Thedas.

Useful
I mean... I didn't read all of it... I'm not that interested in the Chant of Light and all that. I read about Andraste though and I guess it was interesting but really it made me understand what the hell they're on about in the games. I read all about the different types of character because I wanted to know that more.Mostly though I read about the Hero of Ferelden and the companions, and the Inquisitor and the companions. Note that I missed out the Champion of Kirkwall because I've never seen a more boring group of people. It was written in a very clever way that must have taken the longest time. I say this because in the game certain decisions affect who character's become and therefore would change what the book said about them, but it was written in a way that didn't point out those decisions but still summed up the character. E.g. in Dragon Age: Origins you can make Alistair the King of Ferelden, or you can make him stay a Grey Warden, or you can have him exiled or killed. Those are big factors that could affect the written narrative of Alistair but they somehow managed to do it. This was even more important because obviously that decision affects the following games, as Alistair either appears as a Grey Warden or the King in Dragon Age 2 and in Inquisition. It was probably a tad expensive for what I got from it (£20) but I'll definitely keep it and when I play the other games I'll look back to it.

Huge step up
God friggin damn this is a huge step up from Volume 1. It's about double the size of volume one, and doesn't bother attempting to re-summarize that volume's topics, so if you're looking for detailed descriptions of Thedas' lands, religions, etc, its best to grab Vol. 01 instead.. This book delves into everything from DA:O to DA:I, and all the wonderful DLC's in between. It has extra stories, cooking recipes (in case you were wondering about Starkhaven's delightful fish stew) and even a children's tales portion! (I especially enjoyed The WitchWood). The book goes over companions as well, and has incredible artwork. Some of the art isn't exactly like the game (e.g. the drawing of Fenris--I've included it in my pictures below), so I'm guessing that it was either specifically designed for the book or it was some sort of first draft concept. Either way, the illustrations are gorgeous. Couple that with all the lore and the tremendous amount of information, and you've got yourself a solid week of reading material. Personally, I don't think it'll be worth getting this on Kindle. The amount of detail they put into each page is unreal, and would be a waste on a tablet or cellphone.
