RotringRapid Pro Mechanical Pencil, 0.5mm, Black

nice and heavy which makes it perfect

I bought the 0.5 in black and the 0.7 in silver, both of which I use for drawing and sketching. They're a good weight, have a nice grip due to the gnarling, and they're beautiful to look at. The pocket clip is very strong, which means it doesn't slide easily into one's jacket pocket, but then again it's not going to fall out either, no matter how you throw your jacket about. The parent company are most helpful when dealing with enquiries. I highly recommend these beautiful mechanical pencils to drawers and sketchers.

Paying for the Rotring name here of course - this is over-priced but hopefully time will show that extra cost proves justified in continued reliability!!I like the ability to tuck the whole tip into the pen body for protection. I've permanently damaged far too many mechanical pencils in the past by inadvertently bending the metal tip.It has a good weight to it too.It's a lot of money, lets hope it lasts!

This is the second Rapid PRO that I have bought, one that uses 0.7mm refils and one that uses 0.5mm refils. I havent had any issues with either pencil and have been using my older version daily for over a year.They aren't the cheapest pencils but they feel and work like a quality bit of kit. Before these I used the Rotring Tikky pencils which are great for an entry level pencil but I have had issues with the metal tube at the end of the pencil bending. With the design of the PRO the metal tube is pushed up inside the pencil when not being used so it adds a bit of extra protection to this area.They feel heavy enough to feel robust and nice to hold without being too heavy.I'm sure its personal preference but I really like the way that they feel to use. Would happily recommend to anyone.

This pencil is epic.It was bought for me as a gift.0.5 is great for engineers drawings.It's feels like quality in your hand, the buffer on the nib is great, I am know to be quite a heavy writer and as long as I keep the lead size down I don't have any issues with it snapping.I really would recommend this. And will most likely purchase another for home.

I wanted a sustainable alternative too plastic disposable pencils for work. This was good until I dropped it, which was my fault, but the tiny easily damaged tip is not avaliable as a spare part 6 months after purchase. This renders my expensive 'sustainable' pencil scrap.The pens not much better but i'll review that separately.
