The best curry ketchup I've tried so far.
So far I've tried three Curry Ketchups. The Montebello Kitchens Curry Ketchup (via Vitacost) The Hela Curry Gewurz Ketchup Mild and this. This is easily the tastiest of the three. The Montebello ketchup tastes a little too much like tomato paste with curry. It's doubtless the healthiest of the three but comes across as something I might make myself. The Hela ketchup tastes like catsup + brown sugar + curry. It looks sugary, like a slow moving syrup, but it still has only 54% of the calories of this ketchup. This Dulcet curry ketchup tastes like food from an Indian restaurant. It tastes like it was made by someone who doesn't buy "curry powder" because they always make that from scratch and correctly adjust the components of the curry for the food with which it's used. They have also managed to make it taste and pour like ketchup (at least when it's cold). However, be advised: This is the only ketchup I've ever seen made with oil. The canola oil tends to separate out and be sitting on top. That's how it was when my bottle arrived. In the future I may try pouring the oil out, but this time I mixed it in, and the taste is spectacular. The canola oil and cane sugar make this stuff high calorie ketchup. 40 calories per 16 gram tablespoon is 1.85 times the calories of the syrupy Hela and is 2.5 times the calories of Woodstock Organic Tomato Ketchup . I'd rather deal with the calories than buy curry ketchup that's less tasty, but I'd rather pay a little more for something like this that has stevia with a little brown rice malt instead of cane sugar and a little canola protein concentrate to emulsify the canola oil (which might allow a little less oil to be used).
