Great product! I explain how to use it!
Excellent product! I am shocked by the negative reviews, as it sounds like most reviewers just didn't understand how to use it.When refilling this water silo, you can remove the entire trough with the silo by lifting up to remove it from the grooves that hold it in place. It works best on vertical bars. If you have only horizontal bars, you will have to remove the entire holder when you want to clean the trough. You can also remove just the silo, by lifting it up, out of the silo, but a little water might spill.Take the trough and silo to the sink, holding it upright. If you tip it upside down, it's going to spill. You need to wash the trough regularly because this is where bacteria is going the be most likely to build up. You should be rinsing/cleaning the trough and silo at least every other day to prevent bacteria and algae buildup. Clean it using a brush and warm water with blue dawn, or other suitable mild cleaner. Rinse well.Fill the silo with clean water. Place the trough onto the silo BEFORE tipping it over. Do this over the sink. There. No spills. Replace the trough on the holder by sliding the trough between the bars and then down onto the grooves of the holder for a tight fit.If you are replacing only the silo, fill it fully and quickly turn it over, over the sink. The stopper should engage right away, but some water may spill. It sounds like a lot of people went to the cage and tipped the silo over as they placed it onto the trough, which is going to cause a lot more water to spill. For the person who thought he got a backwards product (see customer photos), all he had to do was unscrew it. It's a nut and a screw, which are two individual pieces. It can be placed either way.If your product is damaged upon arrival, I would consider contacting the company. I bought two of these and they are perfect, but I have contacted different companies when I have received damaged products and they have asked me to email a photo of the damage and then just sent a new one without making me send the damaged one back. It's worth a try.The trough is 1/4" wide. (One quarter inch.) It is really only suitable for smaller birds, but if a conure can actually drink from it, then go for it.If a bird doesn't like the trough, that is not a reflection of the product, as that is only your bird's preference. This is a well designed product and I will get two more when I get a second bird. It really helps to keep the water clean, especially if it is placed up higher or away from any perches above. The bird will need a perch in front of the trough.

Amazing to me that sometimes the simple and inexpensive solution is the best solution
A rare case where inexpensive and simple is best -I've spent many dollars trying out expensive and leaky watering systems. Always disappointed. In a lark, I ordered this little plastic unit. Glad I did.I'm amazed that an inexpensive, plastic unit is better than metal and glass units that cost much more money! It works very well !!! Bebop loves it and does not try to destroy it out of his curiosity. It has been staying clean with rinsing it out whilst changing the water - but may be difficult to deep clean down the road ... but at the cost - I'll buy a new one to replace it if it gets grungy in the future - but it is surprisingly logical in design and is so far easy to keep clean.Changing and refilling water is easy and quick - the unit is a good design with the water "silo" is outside the cage and uses gravity to feed the fresh water to the inside of the cage to a small "trough" that's easy to drink from. As a side note - as Bebop climbs around the outside of his main home, he taps the water container with his beak but does not try to bite or destroy it as he apparently realizes it is his fresh water source - and Bebop really enjoys this water system and respects it - he uses it with confidence.

Works but Overly Complicated
It was hard to find a good water tube for my bird's cage. Most tubes are cheap junk that leak. But the JW Clean Water Silo Bird Waterer does work without leaking. Unfortunately, it is an overly complicated water tube that is not easy to install or insert without spilling water. It has a small plastic 'valve' inside the bottom cup. If that valve is not placed perfectly, the tube will spill water when reattaching the tube after refilling it with water. This JW water tube is far better than most. However, I eventually found a basic water tube that doesn't leak or spill water. It is very simple to install and insert. I like it much better. It is the Living World Combo Waterer and Feeder.

Clean, simple to use and but bird loves it.
This was recommeded by the person from whom I purchased my parakeet. So simple and clean. Parakeets tend to like to get into a water dish and mess it up . This is like a little drinking fountain for a bird where he can just take a drink whenever he likes and it auto-fills the well. It so simple. You can refill water from outside the cage. It has a one-way valve so that it doesn't spill when you take it off and then you just turn it upside down at the sink and the valve opens by gravity so that you can fill it. Seems to work perfectly so far and keeps the drinking water clean and I only need to refill the water less than one time per week.

A Reliable Waterer for Clean Drinking Water
Purchased this product to ensure a reliable source of clean drinking water for our two small birds. The plastic tube is sturdily constructed and refilling it is a breeze. While I encountered a minor issue, where the tube would slightly detach from our cage, I resolved it by securing it with a zip tie. This ensured that the tube remained flush and allowed the water to flow as intended. Overall, this tube has effortlessly provided a clean water solution for our birds, requiring minimal maintenance. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a convenient and hygienic waterer for their feathered companions.

Just okay
I was not able to fill and replace these without making a huge mess. The engineering just needs a tweak or two in order to have them replaced without water going everywhere.

Cleanest way to give birds water
At first, I was worried the birds would not find this or be able to fit their beaks into the reservoir, but I witnessed them drinking their water after a few days of having this in their cage. I have two cockatiels. They always have dirty water and it needed replaced daily. With this product, their water is never dirty! It is awesome!

Been looking for this particular water dispenser. It's easy to clean & fill with water. Without the need to inconveniently put your hands in the cage.Highly Recommended!

Great Buy
After years of squeezing the other makes of water feeders thought the bars it is great to finally find a product that works .It does not leak once in place due to the design .The only down side is I have a cage with horizontal bars so the item stays fitted until I clean the cage, which is not a problem as the tube just lifts out and when I change the water I soak up the remaining bit of water in the feeding part with a sheet of kitchen roll .I am happy with this product and have bought a second one as a back up .This item comes in a regular size and a tall I have one of each .

Ten Stars and A Red Dot Design Award should go to this Bird Waterer
Many stars go to this bird waterer that should receive the red dot design award. Is so easy to use and the design is very simple yet ingenious to make the water free flowing, yet it does not leak. If only this design can be found for larger volume of waterer for chickens and other small animals.
