Holds a ton, not too conspicuous
I was a little concerned that I would look like some sort of camera toting Avenger with this armored bag, but in reality it just looks pretty much like a regular backpack. It holds a ton of my gear and the main camera compartment was easy to customize - I appreciate the single included velcro strap. The expanding top compartment is fairly deep and holds a great deal even when rolled all the way down. When unrolled completely (I tried stuffing a gimbal case in there) it looks very silly, but it held the case. The strap that goes over the rolled top has a plastic clip that snaps into a nice metal buckle - maybe unnecessary but it always feels nice when used. The laptop compartment is well padded and feels protected. The shoulder straps are well padded. All in all, the bag is well made, with no loose stitching or bad zippers. My only concerns or thoughts on possible improvements: the tripod holding strap came loose immediately when I tried to use it once. I haven't tried again. I wish the bag had more compartments and pockets for things. The two zippered pockets in the camera portion are fine, but more would be better. They are attached to the front shell piece so if you put something heavy in them that flap will wall open with force if you don't anticipate it. The bottom of the bag is well structured but does not have any sort of rubber feet so sitting it on rough surfaces could cause damage over time. To access your camera, you have to lay the bag down flat and completely open the front panel and unzip the protective flap. The rigid construction makes it an all-or-nothing affair. All in all, this is a great bag and one of my better purchases. No regrets here at all.

I only bought this while waiting for another backpack to go on sale but was happily surprised
Look at the 1 star reviews and figure out if you can trust them. Look at the 5 star reviews and wonder if they are still valid after a couple of months. I bought this backpack after returning 2 from other manufacturers. I am 5'10" and don't need a purse of flimsy nylon bag that can fold into a pouch. I need something that can carry gear and look decent when I carry it.In the back:I carry a canon m50 with a 18-200 and a m100 with the kit on it (in both cases, lenses are on). I also bring the nifty 50 and a 10-18. Power are 2x np-f970 amd 2 lp-e12. I have a wallet sized mini mic and a dead cat for it. I have enough space on the right half of the Associated cables in the shell .Via the top:I carry a sweater, the rainproof cover, a sweater, and a couple of ziplock bags because you never know what you might see or pick up. There is lots of left even when rolled up. Feel free to play tetris when you unroll the top, to add more stuff. The neck facing access zipper is convenient. In the laptop compartment:I carry my Samsung Galaxy A8 fits easily and I can slightly feel it in the small of my back. It's not killing me, but I can feel the tablet reinforce the structureFor my purchase:I bought the grey shelled version, not the black one with quick access. There were no stitching issues or incorrect routing of the shoulder straps. On a cursory viewing, there are no obvious issues or defectsPro:- looks appropriate on someone over 5'6"- semi hard shell, it will absorb impact within reason while distributing the impact throughout the shell- look at how the shell works under the zipper for water resistance.- the back and shoulder cushions provide enough ventilation for a 30 minute walk. it may be more effective than that, but I had to get back to work- the colored roll top is water resistant and has a little water water resistance with inside of the canvas-like material, but use the provided shell to be safe- I feel like I can put the butt on the ground and loop my calf through a shoulder strap and take this on a ride at Disneyland/Disney world without too much worry about the contentsCons:- there are no bottom rubber/plastic cushions at the external bottom of the bag. Some sort of light weight impact pads would be appreciated. If you store your camera or lenses at the bottom of the bag, I would be concerned. As of right now I place batteries, chargers, wires at the bottom of my bag.- zipper construction - on the first zip, it caught on the material and I can see potentials for future zipper issues- no side/quick access for the grey and tan models. But in looking at the back shell, it looks like the non-black models have a better shell, so I'll take it as it is.- the black top looks like it has a water proof top roll. It looks like it has a rubber finish where as the grey and tan models have the water resistant canvas. While the lighter models have a nylon water resistant shell, it looks like the black models may not need one. I would have liked a more water resistant material on my grey version.I'll try to update my review March 2023
