I have tried different types of molds including wood and silicone. I like silicone because it is flexible and easy to use. I do find that soap takes a little longer to harden because of the lack of air circulation compared to other ones. Using sodium lactate in your recipe will help out greatly when working with silicone molds. It is a liquid salt that helps produce a harder bar of soap so it will last longer; along with helping the soap harden quicker in the mold. It cuts down the process that would normally take 4 days to only 1 or 2 days. I add 1 tsp. of it per pound of oils in my recipe. Silicone is also easy to clean and care for.
