Beautiful life lessons and illustrations for boys and girls
In this world of constant competition everywhere we turn : School, Sports, Television reality shows, computer games, movies.... (you get my drift) This book is a breath of fresh air ! There are so many important life lessons touched on in the story of Jillee Bean it is quite surprising that they were able to squeeze them all into a 22 page children's book that has only a few sentences on each beautifully illustrated page. But they have done it, and done it quite well.Without rewriting the entire story I will share the lessons that my children have gleaned from reading this book. The first thing I love is that the young girl goes to her father to talk about how she is feeling instead of the more common daughter confiding in her mother. She doesn't feel that she is good at anything, and that she isn't as good as her friends are at some things. Her father has a very encouraging idea to help her see that she is very good at doing many things. The story goes on to tell how she discovers that she is indeed good at many things. There are many other life lessons "hidden" in her good things that are not the focus, but underlying messages about how helping people and being generous are also very important things. My children may love the book for the beautiful and colorful illustrations but I love it for all of the positive messages. Both my 8 year old daughter and my 5 year old son love reading it equally. I will be adding this to my list of wonderful gifts to give children for birthdays or Christmas for sure.I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase this at a discount during a seller promotion in return for a truthful review.

A Heartwarming Story That Teaches An Important Life Lesson
I have a 6 year old niece and I'm always trying to teach her kindness and doing for others and sometimes that is not an easy task. Jillee Bean and the One Good Thing is definitely an excellent book and story to help instill those lessons. The book is beautifully illustrated with vibrant colors and wonderfully written in rhyme. It tells the story of Jillie Bean who is upset about not being good at everything like she thinks her friends are, is challenged by her father to complete small good deeds in exchange for jelly beans to fill up a jar. She is rewarded one jelly bean for each small good deed she completes until the jar is full. The book shows that good deeds and doing for others isn't hard, it could be as simple as baking a treat for a friend, walking the dog, changing diapers or tidying up. I personally found the story to be very heartwarming and feel good, especially after Jillee Bean filled up her jar.The book teaches many lessons such as doing for others, kindness, compassion, selflessness and helpfulness. I haven't read the story just yet to my niece since I am holding on to the book until summer break from school. I want to use the book as a fun summer project and see if she can fill up her own jar of jelly beans over the break. I hope it teaches her that although the reward may be small, doing for others and being kind goes a long way.I received this book at a discount in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. These words, thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

Unique Book to Encourage Good Deeds. Great Illustrations and Great Message!
This book is about 9.5" wide, 12" long, and 1 cm thick. It is a hardback book that also has a protective sleeve around it. The inside flap, when you first open the book, gives a short summary of the book. On the flap in the inside of the back of the book, it has a short description of the book's writer and illustrator. The book begins with a little girl named Jillee who has had a rough day. She was talking to her dad about how she wasn't the smartest or most athletic kid around. Her dad tells her that you don't necessarily have to be great at everything, but you can do one good thing. He tells her he will give her one jelly bean for each good thing she does. She is immediately motivated to begin doing good for others. The book goes through her different 'one good things' and shows her jar eventually full of jelly beans. She then shares her jelly beans with her friends and family to celebrate. Then she starts the process all over again. I think this book is very different to other children's books. It doesn't just teach children to do good for others, it gives them a motive to do good for others. The inside of the book has a place for the child to write their name and to add the date they filled their own jelly bean jar. So, children can read about how Jillee filled her own jar and begin doing good things to fill their own. I love the colorful illustrations in the book and love how the pictures look realistic, especially the people. The quote on the back of the book is also very inspiring. "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted" -Aesop. Overall I really like this book and 100% believe it is worth the current list price of $14.99. Highly recommend! Beautiful book with a great message.
This is a great book. I got this for my son who is 20 months old now. He loves for me to read to him. He's always bringing me books to read him, I am so happy he loves books as much as I do. I've known many other children throughout my life and I've never known one who loves books as much as my son does at this age. When I bought this book I thought this would be a book for when he is older but I showed it to him yesterday and sat and listened to the whole thing, and then he wanted me to read it to him again! He really loved the scenes with the beach and the dogs. I really love this book, it has a great message and I am glad my son will be able to learn from this from an early age. When he is old enough we will make him his own jar for good things he does. I really love the artwork in this book. It is really colorful and detailed. There are lots of things to look at on each page.I received this book at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. This is my own opinion and I have not been influenced in any way other than the quality of the product to write a good review.
