Great lab system
I'm sure this would be a great system for general PC usage, gaming, etc. I use mine as lab systems. The first one runs ESXi and the second one runs EVE-NG. Between the two I can setup any lab scenario I need for work. They run quiet, and are power efficient, so aren't huge heat sources in my office.Easy to get into the case to add the necessary NVME storage and RAM. The only real downside for my usage is the 64GB limitation on RAM. It'd be nice if I could expand that to higher levels, as it would make my usage even more flexible being able to virtualize more/larger systems if needed. For now, it's not a huge issue as I just power down the VMs I'm not using at the time.

Are there haters here? What's not to love about this?
I've got a mix of the NUC9i9QNX (i9) and NUC9QXVNX (Xeon) from Amazon, and a well know B&M/Online store in NY, and have had zero problems.I have not installed a GPU into the stock case, but have purchased a few of the CoolerMaster NC100 cases from Amazon and moved the compute module into these cases with a full size graphic card and still zero problems. One has become my daily gaming box. Waiting for Razer to finally release their Tomahawk case for the NUC. I have a few of these running 24/7 with nVidia GTX/AMD Radeon VII GPU's and eGPU's mining ETH, and those have not had any issues.Maybe I've just been lucky? I've snapped these up then they've been on sale for far cheaper than they are being sold for now and I have been quite happy with them.. They may great ESXi servers for home labs, and quite expandable. For those of you that want to make your own case (or run without a case), Digikey sells the backplane that's in the stock case.

There seems to be a critical quality issue.
I've had two of these. The first one failed within two weeks and I had my money refunded. Assuming this was an exception, I ordered another and it died today. It lasted through the Amazon refund/replacement period, but not by much. Intel has agreed to RMA it under their warranty, but I have to say I'm very disappointed. It's a shame really, this is a neat design and when the machine is working I really like it. Reliability is the most important feature a product can offer and this one doesn't. Intel is saying it may be up to four weeks before I get a replacement. As expensive as these are, I expected better. I'd have to say that I recommend you steer clear of this model. I've had decent luck with NUCs in general, but this model has been a mess.
