Scratching from inside the wood!
Infested with scratching wood eating bugs. Thankfully, I was installing this late at night when were are active and just as we finished (sadly we made the entire shoe stand) we heard it scratching LOUD. It was scary. I have a lot of high quality food furniture in my house. I massaged the company who said they would look for a replacement. Weeks later I heard nothing back, so I emailed them again. They asked for proof and wanted photos. By this time I had tossed the item because something infested with wood damaging bugs is NOT safe to keep inside a home. I wouldn't have wanted to crack it open either, I'd be scared of what kind of bugs would jump out at me. Now these were LOUD bugs, so it was either a huge one or many many small ones. Icky. Thankfully, Amazon was able to review this and issued a refund. I didn't know bugs even lived in cedar.I didn't feel comfortable with having a wood anything closet after this and went with metal. So that did the job nicely.
