Fantastic Holster
Absolutely great holster, I really am not sure I could find a better one. My 92FS fits nice and snug, the retention device is secure, it isn't coming out without touching the little lever, yet the lever is in a natural position for the thumb to press, is pressed easily without issue, and will draw every time with no delay when needed, very fast draw yet extremely secure with a real retention device...best of both worlds really. The paddle doesn't look like it'd be very comfortable, but it is. You could easily forget there's a paddle in at all and think it was on your belt. Also has a part that clicks in around your belt, so not only is the pistol very secure in the holster, the holster isn't going to be pulled out on accident either. In fact, that's my only real complaint: the holster is easy to put on, very difficult to take off (that part holds it on a little too securely). Also comes with belt attachment to remove the paddle and use on belt, and that's adjustable and can be put high/low and adjust the cant (with the paddle there's a slight, maybe 10-15 degree cant, which is about perfect for concealing on a hip under a coat/jacket/sweater/whatever, but is not adjustable). The inner lining is very nice, 92FS are expensive pistols, keep it nice! It does rub along some unlined plastic along the retention parts inside, but that's hard to avoid, so I can forgive that. But the areas where the sides of the front normally get holster wear do hit on lining, not plastic. So that's good and will hold off wear. Overall I'm not sure there's a better 92FS paddle holster out there. I'm a picky b****rd about my holsters, I ALWAYS have some complaints, but this one I've had significantly fewer complaints than most other 92FS holsters I've tried. High quality, very worth it.EDIT: also, the retention release lever/button is body side, meaning it's hidden from view. From looking one would think it's got no retention device. That's an added security, since nobody anyone trying to take it is going to be surprised by the retention stopping them. Another very nice thing is that the plastic molding is done in a way where the safety can be used on or off. And when holstered safety off, it blocks most of the end of the safety lever so that it would be quite difficult for it to accidentally get engaged, which is important. If you train/carry safety off on a DA/SA pistol, having the safety accidentally engage can be a very bad thing.

Safariland got it right with this holster
This is a great holster to buy. It has retention control, is easy to use (with practice) well priced and durable. I previously bought and use the same holster for a glock 22.It is comfortable to wear all day 12+ hours. I use it daily as my profession requires me to be armed.I have noticed that some people complain about the als retention device. As with any holster, you have to practice draws- repetitive motion- dry fires, etc, getting your basic gross body movements down and this holster is no exception. The "button" for lack of a better term, is in a position that you naturally contact with your draw. Once you get that down, this is a great holster. The als portion does not "slow down" your draw time, mine is actually quicker then a snap top or Serpa type holster. The holster is secured on your belt with the paddle. It is not coming off, in a fight, wreck, accidentally. The paddle portion also fits nicely to your help, versus some that are just a plastic bump on your side. The only negative thing I found about this holster is you defiantly "print" our holster while wearing it concealed. It doesn't "hug" your body as much as a Fobus or leather style holster. Its not bad, but not my first choice for times when I want the weapon to be concealed.Overall, I have been extremely happy with this style of holster, as evident of me buying it for other weapons and recommending it to others.

Great product, but not fully "platform capable."
This holster will fit Gen4 Glock 34/35 firearms, so if you're curious about that, consider it confirmed. However, there are a couple of caveats to consider, too. First, Safariland seems to be slowly phasing out their suede lining system with its newest (and lightest) hoisters, and this is a boon, because it can rub your finish significantly. Silicone spray and regular oiling is a must, in my opinion, for this reason. For LEOs and other duty personnel, this might not be a big deal, but if you just want this full-coverage holster for open carry/EDC, it's something to take into account.Additionally, while the holster comes with both a paddle attachment AND a 1.75-inch belt attachment, this platform is not immediately compatible with the QLS quick-detach system. In other words, you cannot use the belt attachment with the QLS mount, as the mount blocks the belt loops. In order for this to work, you've got to purchase Safariland's UBL (universal belt mount), and this forces the holster to hang much lower on the body than many folks prefer. Because I don't like paddles, I was counting on using the holster with the QLS attached to the belt mount. Unfortunately, because I have to conceal the rig in some states, I can't simply add a UBL to the mix and let the firearm hang so low. My only option, for a full-coverage G34 left-handed holster with quick-detach belt rigging is going to be to have custom work done.Other than that, though, this is a wonderful holster for the money, and it's a five-star solution for most lefties looking for a full-coverage G34 Gen3/4 OWB heavy-duty holster. Good retention, easy draw, adjustable tension, adjustable cant. You can't miss!

Great holster.
Where do I start with this holster? What a fantastic product. I use a similar Safariland model but with type 3 retention for a service pistol which takes a beating daily and has served me well. This mode is of the same quality but without the SLS hood and shield.I decided to go with the type 2 ALS only model for my M&P 2.0 and I’m glad I did. The SLS model doesn’t really have a significant impact on your draw speed, but does add quite a bit of bulk to the holster. This model is likely as fast as a OWB/IWB holster with no retention features, but adds the peace of mind of an ALS if things go south or if you need to get physical. The customizable-angle belt retention rig makes finding that comfortable angle easy and the optional paddle (which comes pre-installed) would be a great option for range or possibly plain clothes officers. While this holster might not have the concealability of some other holsters, I’m willing to trade guaranteed retention for a slightly lower-profile option. All of the components are of high quality material, right down to the screws. One thing I would have liked to see would have been multiple tiers of angle options to allow adjustment for height of carry.Nevertheless, great product.

Don't loose your sidearm in the field!
Bought this holster for a friend - a hunter who carries a S&W M&P9 "1st generation" full size model in cal. 9 mm Luger as a secondary gun in the field - to return a favor to him. The ALS system is extremely intuitive, quick and secure. When the pistol is put into the holster, the ALS (which stands for Automatic Locking System) goes "click" and eliminate any worries about loosing the pistol in the field. Don't laugh and push it aside as something that could never happen. I personally heard the sad story told by an older hunter who used a conventional leather belt holster to loose his revolver out in the field, which was a stainless steel S&W M66 Combat Magnum. It was dawn when it happened and the "shiny" finish of his revolver didn't help one bit to locate it in the dense brush. It was a embarrassing situation he found himself in having to inform the authorities about such a loss. Luckily for him, another hunter recovered this revolver a number of weeks later by pure coincidence and turned the gun in, so in the end all was all good when he got his gun back. He must have had quite a few sleepless nights, because loosing a loaded weapon, with the added risk that it might be found by someone of dubious character that has not the very best intentions, is something very disturbing. If he had used a Safariland ALS holster to begin with, he wouldn't have to go through all that! That said, my buddy is very happy with the 6378 ALS and commented favorably on this particular gift. One thing not often mentioned is that the 6378, which is officially the paddle version of this type of holster, also comes with a set that includes the 567BL belt loop that fits 1.5 and 1.75 Inch wide belts and a set of screws to replace the paddle, for those folks who prefer to attach the holster onto a belt. From what I've seen - and I bought more than one 6378 ALS - that useful extra belt loop is included to all 6378s as standard feature. If you prefer to have a belt-mounted holster and are tired of long waiting time, simply get yourself the 6378 ALS and just swap out the paddle against the belt loop setup included in the package. So, you have easily converted the 6378 ALS paddle holster to a 6377 ALS belt holster without having to buy anything extra. The 567BL belt loop allows for a radical FBI cant, a more moderate forward cant and a straight drop position of the holster on the belt - whatever the carrier prefers for ease of drawing or concealed cover garment. In fact, with other Safariland belt attachment accessories you can mount the pistol depending on preferance or mission. Of course, any of these items have to be bought in separately, but it illustrates how flexible this particular holster system can be.Last comment: This particular holster does fit both the first generation M&P9/40 full size as well as the newer M2.0 version without Problems. We have also tried a full size M&P9 M2.0 in it and it went in with a "click" when the ALS engaged on the ejection port, like it had with my buddy's older M&P9 first gen pistol. The Safariland #6377/6378 ALS type of holsters are highly recommended!
