Had an older Bissell, this unit is superior in cleaning ability. Works very well. However, the fresh water tank is VERY small. Took twice as long to clean the carpet compared to our older model with a much larger fresh water supply tank.

Q: Will this model clean berber carpet?

We haven't used this particular machine on our berber yet but have used prior versions and it works. It worked great on our regular carpet. My husband was more impressed with the mechanics of this machine so I would think it should be fine. Also not all berber is created equal. We have had it in two homes and they looked exactly alike. One was impossible to clean and the one we have now is fine. Has to be a difference in the yarn. Also, stains have a way of soaking up from the bottom over and over on the berber. If you keep after it, you will eventually get it.

Q: Can I turn off rthe roller brushes so as not to snag?

The brushes do not turn off when the machine is powered on.
