Letters For My Brothers: 4th Ed. Paperback – August 24, 2014

I was required to read this book while enrolled with Texas A&M pursuing a criminal justice degree. Good read and very informative

I'm only about 1/8 of the way through it but I'm finding it to be a very interesting and heartfelt collection of letters either written "to" other transmen, or to their own younger selves before transitioning. There are many misspellings and some grammatical errors which I attest to the fact that e-books are not perfectly translated from print to digital form much of the time (in my experience) but I can grit my teeth and move on. I did read one letter that really irritated me, from someone I would deem to be a very ignorant and close-minded, perhaps uneducated person, rife with unnecessary political mumblings, quite off-topic in my view, and not well said, but all the others I've read are pretty great and some are AMAZING. This isn't really written for those who are not female-to-male transgendered, but I believe that those who are interested in the topic will benefit from it for sure. It took me a long time to buy this, but I'm sure glad I finally did.

After the first time I read this, I started carrying it with me on the regular. It's a great book to take out and just read a story or two from whenever I, as a trans guy, am feeling in need of some support or empathy. The stories are real and sincere, and told from a number of different perspectives. There are people whose letters reflect my own experience, and plenty who don't, and most are somewhere in between. I bought this mostly out of curiosity - wasn't expecting to be so affected by it. But it's served as a powerful reminder that I'm not alone, and a reassurance that what I think and experience has been thought and experienced by others too. Would 100% recommend this book to any trans guy, or anyone who wants to understand us better.

As a transguy who has been transitioning for about 7 years I am delighted to know that there is still much to know from other peoples experiences. I also found it uplifting knowing I have some similar experiences so I don't feel so alone.

I was looking for other guys' stories, and wow, did I find it. Great writing, and some very up-close, personal stories and thoughts from these men that really refreshed my perspective. Great resource!
