Perfect for camping
Tried out on our recent camping trip and it was perfect! Easy to assemble, was stable and safe to use with hot coals, easy to dispose of coals after and compact.

Works great!
I love this chimney/grill! It’s packable, not too heavy. It cooks good enough for what I intended it to do for my needs. There are holes around the body, which means more airflow. So if you do use it as a backpack grill; you should only cook things that don’t need a long amount of time to cook. There’s a lot of heat produced so cook fast and keep an eye on your food so you don’t burn it. Overall I’m more than happy with this product!!

Sturdy, easy, performs well, great price, quick delivery.
Wow! This product is all that I wanted, plus a little bit more. I love to camp and use my cast iron dutch oven, but I have a Corolla, so packing space is very limited. I don't have space for one of those huge round Charcoal Starters, so I've been looking for a collapsible version ever since I saw one being used a few years ago. (Even if I had a huge trailer or RV, I'd still prefer items that use a minimum of space and have multiple uses.) This one beats all of the competition! It folds completely flat (including the handle, which is very comfortable btw), it's easy to open and put the grates in place, it has great airflow, AND you can actually do some cooking with it (with a small skillet or pot and judicious adjusting of the amount of charcoal). The locking guide above the handle makes it very easy to lift and tip over, and pour the charcoals right where you want them to go, and the 90-degree corner does make it easier to aim the charcoal, versus trying to do that with a round starter. I chose this one over a competitor that comes with a carry bag, because 1) the quality of the Outset is obviously better, 2) the competitor's handle doesn't fold at all, 3) the Outset has an additional built-in use, which is actual cooking!

Great for small meals
Neat idea that formalizes what I've been doing recently.A while back I started using my charcoal funnel as a very high heat tool to cook skewers of seafood and other items when I didn't want to fire up the entire grill. It has been a great way to grill a lot of foods for 2 people (kids are gone now), but the lack of a grill in the funnel was a drawback. This came along with the promise of the heat of a funnel and the handiness of a grill.Tried it our tonight with an 8 oz. Rib Eye and was pleased with the results. With just 18 briquettes I got a nice sear and crust on the steak. We do a lot of grilling so we will see how this holds up through the rest of the season.I used Kingsford briquettes and get a very nice burn going quite quickly. The beef cooked well on all sides and came off at a very nice medium rare.My Thought:Pros:- It packs flat- Sets up easily- Cooks for 2-3 with a minimum of charcoal- Great focused heat at the top of funnel- Will be easy to store over the winter.- Handle stays coolCons:- Very thin metal construction which will likely dent easily if taken camping or the like- Bent the internal tabs that hold the charcoal grate during installation. Easy to bend back- Thin wire construction of both the charcoal grate and the grill grate- Paint already started to burn off (see picture)- Handle and release button are cheap plastic which will not weather too wellOverall, I'll give it a 6.5 out of 10 to begin and we will see at the end of the season
