These are perfectly delicious and convenient running fuel and the caffeine is an added bonus. Price is right and delivery was super fast

As gels go, I think these taste and digest excellently, but of course folks' experience with such things can vary greatly. They're a bit gooey on the hands, kinda hard to get off on the go, but I expect most if not all goo gels are like that. I find they definitely need to be washed down with some water, both because of the feel in my mouth and to help my body process the concentrated calories and minerals in them. Also, the caffeine has never seemed to do me wrong, but I'm naturally not particularly sensitive to caffeine.I will admit that after downing one per hour over the course of an all-day race, by about 6-8 hours in I completely lost my appetite for these. (It has since come back.) It wasn't that I lost my appetite for all food or that I was in danger of heaving, or worse. I simply didn't want to eat another Clif Shot.My other go-to energy supplement on long runs are these: PowerBar Performance Energy Blasts Gel Filled Chews, Strawberry Banana, 2.12-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 12). I'd say they taste and go down even better than Clif Shots, and you can get them with or without caffeine, depending on the flavor. The strawberry-banana (which I love even though I'm no big fan of banana flavored comestibles) have 40mg of caffeine in a 200-calorie packet of nine gel blasts.The PowerBar gel blasts are especially useful for small, continual calorie intakes. The Clif Shots are great for more substantial immediate energy. Oh, and the litter leash design is beautiful and effective. All in all, kudos, Clif. I'm not throwing away my shot.

I run 40-70 miles a week so have tried various gels over the years. This one is probably the best. The taste is very natural as it is 90% organic so no artificial flavours or colours. It is not too sweet, or thick. Even as a regular tea and coffee drinker you notice the 50mg of caffeine. There are other cliff bar gels with less/no caffeine.Highly recommended to any coffee or mocha lover who is looking for a gel to provide an extra jolt of energy. Recommend dose is 30-60g of carbs an hour so about one every 45 minutes, but it is a case of personal preference. Like all gels it needs to be washed down with 150-200ml of water, not sports drink as this could cause GI distress.
