I know some people say they installed theirs in 5 minutes. I'm pretty handy, but it took me much longer. I gathered all the tools I had handy and went to work. Turned out I needed a pretty narrow flat blade screwdriver and something to use as a the pivot point for a lever. Then when I had everything ready, I lifted the spring clip on one end and the clip didn't lift evenly. It twisted around and obstructed the hole where the pin on the trunk lid should have entered. It took numerous tries to lift the clip evenly so as to leave the hole accessible. When I finally got them installed they worked fine. After I lift the trunk lid a couple of inches the shocks provide plenty of lift and support. In the end, that's what counts.

Reverse order with new cylinder, probably will snap on w/o use of screwdriver. Go to other side and repeat. Not a bad way to use 10 minutes. These were a perfect fit for our 2012 Corvette convertible's trunk. They're plenty strong to hold the trunk lid up, however, they didn't really improve how far the trunk initially pops open when triggered. We were hoping that the trunk would pop up an inch or more, but unfortunately, these didn't make much difference. Other than that, they have no issues holding the trunk lid open without being too strong to make closing it difficult.
