Folding Utility Knife

This is one of the few knives with a lock-closed feature to keep the blade and your fingers safe. Smooth action, solid construction, good light-duty knife.

Seems to be well made, my fiancé had a tool shed brand and we couldn’t find one so we tried these. Hopefully they hold up

i have three of these knives. The problem I have had with them is that on two of the knives the little hex screw above the blade fell out rendering the knife useless - I have been unable to find replacement screws.

I did not purchase this knife myself, it was a gift from my dad. I have not used this knife for serious, heavy duty jobs such as cutting carpet or even cutting extra thick cardboard. With a new utility blade I would imagine it would perform these jobs adequately, like most other knives. Mine is from several years ago, so I don't know if the build quality has changed over time, but mine feels very heavy and solid when open, and I would definitely use this knife whenever the need arose. I have not used the pocket clip so I cannot describe the clip's effectiveness. The only drawback is how heavy this knife is! Made If it wasn't a present from my dad, I might have put in the donation pile by now. I just saw there are now a few ceramic utility blades being made, so I might try one of those in this knife to reduce the weight. The red finish has held up very nicely, but it hasn't been tossed around in a heavy toolbox, I have mainly kept it in a drawer or a backpack or purse.

Unless you use this knife for light duty tasks, it will not hold up very long. I use it in teaching to show students how to trim thermoplastic, which is a medium duty tasks that requires firm pressure but nothing more. I don't hit it with a hammer to plow through thick material or otherwise misuse it. Within a couple of months, the blades were obviously not being held firmly and within the first 90 days, they slipped out completely. When I tried to disassemble it, the hex screw heads were so soft it was impossible to remove them so I drilled them out. As I suspected, all that holds the blade in place is the black plastic "button" that make it convenient to change to a new one. All of the cutting force you apply to the blade is transmitted into soft plastic, which will soon wear and eventually fail completely. IHO, this is a design defect, so although I could get a warranty replacement, who want's another poorly designed knife that will fail again? I replaced it with a Craftsman lifetime warranty folding knife at twice the cost, but all of the parts that anchor the blade are steel so the Craftsman design is obviously intended for use in the real world.

I always have one of these in my pocket in case I need to cut something, usually opening packages. It has a smooth and easy opening mechanism with a side button, and it's easy to open and close with one hand. It locks very secularly and holds the blade well. To me, this knife feels really solid. I don't do a lot of heavy duty stuff with it, but for moderate use, it has been great for me. I only wish it had a spare blade holder.
