Key Moments in Church History: A Concise Introduction to the Catholic Church (The Come & See Series) Paperback – November 10, 2005

Good reading; provides previously unknown (to me) information; contained 'moments' that I wasn't interested in reading about.

Steer clear of this book. What a mishap and disaster. Chapter 6 alone on the Crusades is a slander against Holy Mother Church and a complete misreading of the historical events. Pick up Rodney Stark's "God's Battalions" or even better Thomas Madden's "A New Concise History of the Crusades" for accurate historical information. Church History is a specialization of mine and we considered this book for a parish study. If you need a solid alternative, read James Hitchock's new volume "History of the Catholic Church: From the Apostolic Age to the Third Millennium". All of these titles are available from Amazon. This book is a travesty regurgitating urban legends far detached from reality. A complete whitewash of Muslim aggression and slaughter. I also recommend Diane Moczar and her books especially "Seven Lies About Catholic History: Infamous Myths about the Church's Past and How to Answer Them." I wish the author would discontinue this book until he converts and recants and revises the errors found in his book.
